Its always feels risky replacing parts that don't work with parts that are supposed to work. After all the effort, will the part work? Well... I got lucky. This fuel sensor kit fit my 1981 CJ5 Jeep with the original metal 15 gallon tank. So far its been working well and the reading is showing accurate. It was a good part selection for me.

I tested the ohm readings on this unit when it first arrived and again when I dropped the tank to replace the old one to compare results. This one read correctly while the old unit had obvious errors below a 1/2 tank. Might need to squirt a little WD40 on the moving float level hinge to get a smooth up and down motion but otherwise it works fine. Only complaint is that it takes several minutes to get the needle on the dash gauge to rise up when the Jeep is first started (First time I filled the tank after installing this I thought I had bought a piece of crap but halfway home it was reading like it is supposed to) so you might have to give it a few minutes to get an accurate tank level reading.

Works for standard OEM tank with no mods. I've got a poly replacement tank. The gauge supply return tubes need to be about 1 inch taller or you will need to modify gauge position pointing them towards the back & cut top of plastic retainer nut off so it will go down far enough to seal.

Perfect fit for my 1980 CJ 7 with the Pontiac iron duke 4 cylinder. Gas gauge works fine now just make sure you have a good ground to frame when installing and make sure the wires are connected to the sending unit before reinstalling the gas tank

Worked for a month, now I have to do the job again. Junk.

Perfect match for 1975 cj5.I tested this unit prior to install, and it is working perfectly.
