Take Me Home: The John Denver Story [DVD] [2000]

I DO love John Denver's music and I get much of what he did in his life BUT this film's Smaltzy !What's wrong with it is that the two main characters don't age at all and the story it flits forwards at a lightening crazy pace from Boy meets girl to marital rows AS IF IN AN INSTANT. This film lacks any real life balance - everything is either lopsidedly NICEY NICER OR COMPLETE TRAGEDY WITHOUT ANYTHING IN BETWEEN THAT'S - REAL LIFE ?The characters are ONE DIMENSIONAL and the storyline reads like it's been written by somebody who doesn't understand how real life IS, making the overall effect of the film Cringingly bad. There are however some good moments but overall I found this film to be way too idyllic and lacking in any basic reality.

Bought as a gift for my grandson, who is a big JD fan. he has enjoyed watching and listening to it since.Very pleased.

I grew up on a mixed back ground of music including John Denver but never really knew much about him as a person. What an amazing story. Shame his life was short but at least he did what he did and it was mostly a success. Great movie.

Ordered this for my son who has asked for it for the last 3 years. He was very happy to receive it as a Christmas gift.
