Great ancient information
The book is everything I had hoped it would be. It took a moment to realize that the footnotes used on each page are at the bottom of each page, which was distracting at first as someof the pages were only half pages do to this.

Interesting read as a classic if you're an herbalist
It's great to read as a classic (if you're a traditional Chinese medical herbalist), but don't expect to learn much that's appropriate for modern day use. He talks a lot about using heavy metals and toxic medicinals, especially in an alchemical manner. Daoists back then where obsessed with being immortal and gaining super human powers and some of these toxic substances where suppose to help achieve that. But it's interesting none the less.......if you're an herbalist.

Ancient art of medicine
Shen Nong Ben Cao Jing is a book where the physician finds important informations on chinese materia medica, and the scientist finds something to explore. It is a book that everyone interested in these two subjects has to read.

Came as described
The book is for that little bit of info that you may not be getting. I got if for a class, my instructor fills in a lot of what would otherwise be missing from the book itself. The stars are more for the shipping less for the book it is a pretty straight translation, I would love to see a more verbose, explanatory version. Hint hint translators out there

I like it
As a non-Mandarin reader, I can't vouch for the translation of this book, but I found it easy to use and understand and very useful as a classic of tcm.
