The Moosewood Cookbook: 40th Anniversary Edition

Fabulous book filled with solid vegetarian meals with pictures to boot. A winner!

Moosewood is an essential staple in a vegetarian kitchen. The recipes are all fabulous, delicious and mostly simple.

Been trying to find this book for years. Excellent recipes included in cookbook.

Best cookbook. I can find the ingredients at my local grocery store! Yummy no fail recipes!

Recipes that stand the test of time.

Classic cookbook

You can buy the original or you can buy the 40th edition or the New. All three books are alike with some revisions. The point. If you love vegetables and vegetarian cooking, you will like this book. Recipes are easy, flavors are wonderful. Mollie obviously loves strudel. A few recipes for strudel. If you like casseroles, a lot of casseroles. Not a lot of bread baking recipes a few. If you don't like eastern flavors, curries,Mediterranean sauces, there is many of these recipes. You can alter the flavors and the recipe to what you like. I do that all the time.

Great cookbook! A classic and my copy of the 1992 edition has been one of my most used cookbooks. I was glad to see it is now available in a hardcover edition, so I purchased, since my 1992 softcover is getting worn. Classy new hardcover in a gold color with debossed graphics and still has the charming handwritten recipe text and drawings and of the original. I did not notice any differences in recipes between the 1992 and 2014 version - even the page numbers appear to be the same. Recipes are fabulous. The Salad chapter really excels - love the lentil bulgur salad (has become my potluck mainstay), gingery marinated chickpeas, Balkan cucumber salad, Bermuda salad, marinated sweet potatoes and broccoli, white rabbit salad (easy, healthy and delicious). Other favorites are: lentil soup, Bulgarian pepper casserole (amazing way to use lots of green peppers, liked by even green pepper haters), gado gado, samosas, tortillas. I have made lots of other recipes in the book and all were great. Highly recommended!

Everything about this book is attractive. It appears to be hand written with illustrations also by the very talented author. It makes for a very good read too - the presentation is so good that you find yourself immersed in the recipes and the details - before you have even got to the oven! The ingredients are not difficult to source and she does not resort to over-spicing things which a lot of the more modern vegetarian cook books sometimes tend to do. This is a good all round every day use cook book and I wish I had discovered it years ago. It was well worth the small amount I did pay for a second hand book, and better value than some of the more glossily illustrated ones on today's shelves!

Stupéfaite à la réception d'un livre de cuisine qui TIENT DANS LE CREUX DE LA MAIN. Quasiment impossible de tourner les pages. De plus les recettes n'ont pas l'air intéressantes. Un choix que je regrette, ou est-ce une mauvaise blague ?

questo volume scritto a mano e disegnato dalla Katzen (che conta tra i fondatori del Moosewood restaurant) rimane attuale e delizioso, sia nello stile che sul fronte delle ricette. Mi sembra però (inevitabilmente) meno utile della sua "discendenza", i molti libri che raccontano e condividono con grande generosità e precisione gli sviluppi di quell'esperienza culinaria. Da vegetariana ho una preferenza per Moosewood restaurant cooking for health.
