Does the Job, Solves Car Homelink Incompatibility
This took awhile to install because even though the instructions seem detailed and spot on, it wasn't perfect. I assumed the receiver was already programmed for the transmitter. So when the instructions told me to program using the transmitter, I assumed they meant the one I was replacing.I bought this because our cars homelink wouldn't work with the existing garage door opener. (Check the frequency at which your existing transmitter operates). You install the receiver into a power outlet, or like I did, directly into the power cable from the opener. Then you install a wire from the receiver into the opener. The receiver has a built in antenna. You program the receiver with the transmitter they provided. Then you use the transmitter they provided to program your homelink in the car. Not difficult. Good luck.

Excellent repair solution when your garage door opener receiver fails.
The device was used as a method of repairing my garage door opener that would no longer open when the remote or my car's built in remote. The device consists of a remote garage door transmitter paired to a stand-alone receiver. When you press the remote relay contacts pulse closed in the receiver for 1/2 second. This output is wired to the button contacts on the garage door opener so when you press the remote you are simulating a button push, totally avoiding the use of the failed receiver. It was easy to pair, easy to install (in my case close to the power head), and easy to wire up. It has increased range and generally works better than the original opener and saves you the cost and misery of replacing the power head.

Did the Job in No Time
Boy, this product was a real money saver.I recently sold my home and when it came to handing over the keys and garage remote, I discovered to my surprise that my garage door opener didn't work as I seldom opened the door w/ the remote as my garage turned into a storage unit over the years.I was so dismayed while Googling about a replacement... They simply do not make a replacement remote for my old ('03) Martin garage door because the transmitting frequency is too low.Being that time was of the essence, I called out a garage door company and they, too, said, no replacement remotes exist for my Martin and that I would have to replace the unit at a cost of over $1k.Here's where reading reviews of a product truly helps... Because I had read somewhere that this conversion remote worked for someone w/ my Martin garage door opener. Now, when it came to installing, I do have to admit that the supplied instructions for this unit is, well, quite brief and limit. But, again, by reading other people's comments, the installing process was a breeze... Done in less than 15 minutes. To conclude, this product saved me hundreds in a potentially embarrassing fashion.

Saved me from replacing my old but still good garage door opener
We got a new car with HomeLink capability, but couldn't get our 13-year-old garage door opener to communicate with it. The dealer had no idea why it didn't work, so I took a chance on calling HomeLink directly. They were at first unsure because of the relative obscurity of my garage door opener brand, but stuck with it and realized that the 40mH frequency of my opener was way too low for the 300+mH HomeLink range. The HomeLink tech help person gave me a link to order a part similar to the one I bought here, and I wanted to make sure I got some more feedback on installing it, so I went to Amazon and found a better and cheaper part from the same company. It was so well thought out that I did the job in no time and, carefully following the instructions, had the car talking to my garage door immediately. The range is just as good with HomeLink as with the old remote, and now I have a dual-frequency opener! This is really good because my old remotes were in pretty bad shape, so not having to use them anymore is a relief. One tip: Make sure you insert the correct wires into the correct holes of the adapter unit BEFORE you mount it, THEN connect those wires to the appropriate holes in the garage door opener. Making sure all connections are correct and snug. Also make sure the new antenna line is fully extended and straight, to insure good range. It comes all curled up for shipping, so it takes some gentle patience to get it to hang straight down from the adapter unit. Make sure all your wires are tidy and not vulnerable to getting caught in the operation of the garage door opener, too. This product saved me a bundle.

Works better than expected
My story here is that the remote circuit board on the Marantec is broken, the remote control can't open the door, beside that everything else is fine, the wall door opener work just fine. I called Marantec manufacture, they said that I needed to reach out the re-seller, then I called one of the resellers near my location and they said that $150 for just come out and check out the issue, this amount will come against the cost for either part replacement or the whole unit replacement which will cost more than $600. I did some research, and read many comments from amazon here regarding this item, think this item may work for me. but still, not sure. After I received the item, read through the instruction, no more than 10 mins, the remote control start working again. Basically this external remote control receiver simulate the control signal as the control signal through the mounted wall door controller. It works better than the way it is before. Very happy, and save me a lot of money than replacing the entire unit which is really waste of money.

Did not work
Followed instructions exactly, but item did not work. Reviews said it should work with my garage door opener, but it did not. Reconnected the wires several times just to double check, but still did not work. Sent back for refund, and I only received 74% of the purchase price as a refund due to restocking fee or something. I'm in the process of fighting it out with 365garagedoorparts to get my full refund, but it hasn't happened yet.
