Mercy Watson: Something Wonky this Way Comes

Very well written great color

My granddaughter has been reading these at school and asked us to purchase one for home. We all love this book, because the language is so right for young children learning to love to read. There is enough new vocabulary to satisfy the adults, and the story is charming. The characters even in this short book have real personalities. We will look for more to read at home as she continues to read them at school.

Mercy Watson is one of the best children’s books series out there. A sure fire win if you’re needing a gift. And they’re also great to get apprehensive or uninterested readers excited about reading. The books are silly and enjoyable.

My grandson loves the Mercy Watson books. Has almost all of them and wants the rest.

This was a perfect Christmas gift for my second grade Grandson. He is now reading chapter books and became a fan of this series in his visits to the school library. I think he has now read the entire series.

Adorable. Adorable. Adorable.We have completely fallen in-love with Mercy and all the funny characters of Deckawoo Drive. I highly recommend collecting the entire series. We have laughed, cried, and recited passages together as a whole family. We adore the pig who likes to eat lots of buttered toast. One of the few books my 5 year-old will sit and listen to for the entire book. The artwork that goes along with the story is unexpected bonus.

I started reading Mercy Watson books to my grandson when he was 4 and was excited to get his first "chapter books." He's now in Kindergarten and he still loves these books! We've read them all several times. I just purchased the next series of books by Kate DiCamillo, starting with Leroy Ninker Saddles Up. The Mercy Watson books have larger pictures and less words per page, so they're easily read a chapter or two at a time. The stories are quite fun.
