Ancient Sicilian Monuments
This volume presents artistic images that show how many of the major Greek monuments may have originally appeared based on either historical records or speculative re-construction of the ancient sites. If you plan to visit Sicily and tour the sites, it would be well worth getting this book beforehand.

Excellent Book
Book is great but I didn’t like the spiral binding. It didn’t show it in the picture. The book and illustrations are fantastic.

Ancient Sicily: Monuments Past and Present
This book is invaluable when visiting ancient monuments in Sicily because so many are in pieces with very little signage, and most of that is in Italian. The flip over pages show how wonderful these sites would have been and the visitor really can appreciate all the steps in designing and building them. In many cases, stones from the sites were used to build nearby towns, so the original sites are a jumble of leftover stones for the most part which mean nothing to the average visitor - this is why this book is vital.

A Picture's Worth 1000 Words
This was a wonderful book to have during our recent trip to Sicily. While the sites are magnificent, it helped to have some idea what the buildings would have looked like when new. It is the only travel book that my husband was interested in during the trip.

I Love The Entire Series
I have all of these series of books and they are so well put together. To see the ideas and true forms that come together when you first look at an ancient ruin, and then see how it was portrayed so long ago is amazing!

A touring aid
Handy to have while in Sicily. Great in visualizing what a number of ruins and archaeological sites once looked like.

Unique insight into ancient ruins
Bought just before trip. Lists all the best locations in Sicily. Take it with you but not into the field - too big! (They should have a pocket size one). Gives you much better understanding of what you have seen. PS: I am an amateur - not an expert!
