NordicTrack CX 998 Elliptical Resistance Motor Model Number NEL70952

I bought this to repair my NordicTrack CX988 elliptical. The machine is at least 15 years old now, and the resistance hasn’t worked in years. I never really cared until all of the gyms closed and it was time to bust out the trusty NordicTrack.The motor was an exact match, but it turns out I didn’t need it. I did some basic troubleshooting, but didn’t check for voltage at the motor before ordering (you know what they say about assumptions). I installed the motor, but still had no resistance. After chasing wires with a multimeter, I realized there was no continuity between the console and the motor, so I started disassembling to find a broken wire.I get the upright (neck) off, unplug the connector in there, and....Behold! A bent pin in the connector, specifically for the blue resistance wire. I fixed the pin, reconnected, reassembled, and just left this new motor installed to save the trouble of returning it. At least now I have the old one as a spare.The only time it was disassembled and reassembled was when the government moved it on a military move back in 2006. Sears came out and reassembled it (for a fee), albeit incorrectly, which ended up costing me another $100 and a couple hours of personal labor fourteen years later.Side note, it arrived about a week ahead of schedule - which was awesome.
