Poor instructions provided by the manufacturer. Primarily images of the parts and some images of assembly but very little verbiage. The rails themselves are sturdy but weak point is the mechanism to lower and raise the bed rails. One pin per leg to lock into or release. Sometimes you need to jiggle it a little to lock in the pin into the slot. We received the rail on January 8th and installed the same day. This morning one pin fell apart - the screw on top fell off and I have been unable to reinsert the pin and screw back the top. I just noticed a thin wire hanging down from the top portion of the leg that was not visible before.The instructions are so lacking in any detail that I submitted a question on the carex website this morning to see if they could assist. I’m not sure we be able to use this rail again. The rail lasted two months before this incident- with an average of 4 raising/lowering of the bed rail per day. I don’t believe this is excessive but it would seem that we need to find something more robust.

We needed a bed rail for a family member with dementia who is quite tall and had recently been injured in a fall. I bought this rail set partly because of its flexibility (it can be set up with either side near the head of the bed) and because the side that can be raised and lowered seemed easy to maneuver. My concern, esp after removing it from the box, was that it might not be strong enough. But after some difficulty putting the first part together it was relatively easy to get the two sides onto the bed and has worked like a charm ever since! We've experimented with the placement of the two sides and that's been pretty easy to do. One word of advice: I would recommend putting a pillow between the two component parts if they're spread out at all.

I bought this for my Dad, who is 82 and mostly bed bound, to prevent him from falling off of his bed. The product is just as described. It comes in a set of two different rails and in a dark brown metal color (cute, not ugly). They were fairly easy to install , and the sliding one does just what it says: it locks when pulled up and has an easy release pull (strong nylon band) to bring it down that is easy to use and keeps out of the way. This rail does jiggle just a tad, but holds up well and does the job well because of the locking mechanism. Your loved one will definitely be safer using these. Good price, nice set, would definitely recommend!

They did the job to help with my mother-in-law with dementia, however, they sometimes don't lock into the upright position without a little jiggling and pushing of the button. We had to buy a 2nd set (just needed an additional raising rail) to keep her from scooting to the end of the bed to climb out. They are easy to install and work pretty well. She uses the top rail to scoot, roll and sit-up constantly. I would buy them again.

The media could not be loaded.  This bedrail was purchased to keep me from falling out of bed. I haven’t used it very long because the strap to raise and lower the rail popped off and now I can’t get in or out of bed because I can’t raise or lower the gate. I am 68 years old and handicapped. I can’t use the rail unless it is repairedlove this bedrail, but I have a problem with the strap that you use to raise and lower the bedrail . One of the pins popped off and it won't go back on. As a result, I can't get in or out of bed.

The only reason I gave 4 instead of 5 star is that the side that easily comes down by pressing on it isn’t as easy to lock back up once it goes down. It takes about 3-4 tries to lock back in to the up position. Other than that this is great and serves purpose

Purchased this for my mom after she fell off the bed twice. She likes the sturdiness of the support rail when she gets up. She just doesn't like the sound it makes when she releases the rail and the rail drops to the floor.It was easy to assemble and it does the job

I hardly ever write a review but this product deserves one! It is great! It is sturdy, and very easy to use, even on our sleigh bed. The only thing one should be aware of is - it is stable because it attaches to the actual bed. So, you'll probably need a second pair of hands to assemble it on the bed because you need to move the mattress. But - it is worth it!! My husband has dementia and fell out of bed twice (on a sleigh bed that is a high fall). This product not only helps him get in and out of bed but with the second piece in place, secures him during sleep. Highly recommend!
