take the trip and buy the book when you get home to save BIG bucks
bought this after a trip to London. Book was around 10-15pds on site at tower of London and we bought this one for $4 three days after returning home. Also bought a couple of the other sites we visited. Yes we are cheap, but saved about $45 and still get the books to bring back great memories. The book was used but there was absolutely no evidence it had ever even been opened when we received it.

Nice overview, well-organized
Sold in the local gift shops, this is an excellent short overview of the buildings and history of the Tower of London, the people who lived there (some still do!), who were imprisoned and executed. The drawings and illustrations, especially of what was built when, are fascinating. The photographs, some of areas where tourists are not permitted, or are not allowed to take photos, also fascinating. If you're looking for an exhaustive volume, this isn't it (72 pages); this is bigger than a brochure, smaller than a breadbox (do the English have breadboxes?), but I enjoyed it, post-visit, and wish I'd had it to familiarize myself with, pre-visit.
