I just recently switched to Timpani from an other instrument. This book quickly enabled me to understand the fundamentals of the Instrument. The book is quite long and covers also more advanced aspects, I believe it will be useful also to more ambitious musicians than myself. But I regret getting the Kindle version. A hardcopy would be much better on the music stand.

Really lays out the fundamentals for you. While I never got through the entire book, I recognize that it is a great tool in any percussionists' bag that is learning timpani.
