Great ride - bad bolt
As mentioned in my review of the delivery of the product, the elliptical arrived in questionable condition. Many of the plastic housings had popped off from their positions. In popping these pieces back into place, one piece had been chipped and badly scuffed, I assume in transit. After reassembling the housing and polishing the piece, the chip was not too noticeable. Unpacking and assembly are not that difficult. Basically, there are six bolts to connect into pre-tapped receivers, after you disconnect the four bolts holding the pipes attached to the base of the unit for shipping. Base on the time it took me to disconnect the pipes, attach the bases and tighten five bolts, total assembly should not exceed 20 minutes. However the sixth bolt did not prove to be that easy. Although I could run the bolt through the threads of the receiver both backwards and frontwards, once I moved the right arm to be bolted in place, the bolt would not catch the threads of the receiver. After many attempts and an hour of frustration, I finally got the bolt to catch the thread and tighten. With still a quarter inch for the bolt to tighten, it simply stopped. With the dinky allen wrench provided, I could not move the bolt in any direction. I tighten the other bolts on the arm which I had loosened to get more play in the arm to get it secured and removed most of the play in the arm to stabilize it. Since the housing fits over the unseated bolt, it is covered and not visible to the user of the elliptical. The elliptical was assembled, but I don't know if the bolt in the right arm will come back to haunt me down the road. After positioning the elliptical, I began to test it out. Immediately, I detected a scrape as the fly-wheel passed a particular spot. After adjusting the fly-wheel housing the scraping disappeared. However, I'm not sure the housing is properly secured. When I "snap" the housing back into place, the scrape is back again too. So, the housing is not snapped in. It's not loose and does not wiggle, etc.I have now used the elliptical for a few days. It peddles like a dream. I have only used manual mode so far, but the display is very good and the information easily readable, etc. The fly-wheel is whisper quite and the machine rides much like the multi-thousand dollar machines you can use at hotel gyms. I'd rate the ride on the elliptical as a 5 and the set-up process a 1!

Home vs Gym Elliptical Review
I just finished setting up my elliptical and taking it for a 20 minute spin. Everything works great.I want to make this point a priority because this is what I care about and other reviews lack.... this elliptical has more resistance than a gym style elliptical at the lowest level. So you are going to have to be a bit more forceful than the gym ones that let you feel like you can just wiz through a marathon or float around on a cloud while supposedly burning calories. I am hoping it will loosen up a bit over time and I might be investigating potential areas for WD40 :)That being said, here are some additional comments: if you are putting this on carpet then plan in getting a mat becasue it will have a slight wobble and changing the incline can be hard on the motor. I am actually considering a piece of plywood. Makes very little noise (I live in the city so noise doesn't bother me), heart rate monitor is accurate compared to my chest strap monitor, water bottle and tablet holders are awesome (a must have since I am a multitasking machine), the preset workouts look great (I don't like anything fancy in this area so take that into consideration), super easy to assemble (6 screws and physical exertion, I did it by myself in 20 mins but I am very methodical and like lifting heavy things), my box came a bit damaged, which I documented, however the system inside was in great shape/no defects to report. Make sure you inspect the box and refuse it if something looks damaged inside. It will save you any headaches.... promise me!!Overall, I am quite satisfied. I rarely give a product five stars..... perfection is rare.An excellent machine that keeps me going, without having to put pants on during these cold, lazy winter days! Thanks Amazon and ProForm, oh and the awesome delivery guys!

Works just like it's supposed to.
First, I did get a thin, foldable, mat to put under it. I have wood floors and HIGHLY recommend this practice. It's especially important to me because I live an an apartment building with neighbors below me. The mat helps dampen the noise of the movement of the elliptical.Second, yes, there was a little bit of a squeak in the wheel area for the first couple of times I used the machine. However, that stopped and I haven't heard anything like it since.I DO wish the iFit programs were less expensive. I wish there had been one complimentary one I got with it to give me a taste of what the programs were like. Not knowing exactly how they are prevents me from experimenting on an expensive one.The movement is smooth and it holds its' incline adjustment. Also, I was on the lookout for it to need ever-increasing tension adjustment and that hasn't happened. It holds its' tension, even after many uses. I think I've used it over 30 times, for about an hour each time. The foot pads are adjustable, but not enough to make me really happy: I'd rather my toes not point down at all during the movement cycle. Feels better for my knees when my toes don't point down. I also wish they had just a little more "give" in them. The fan is GREAT! Makes a big difference for me.Overall, this has been a great purchase for me: the ability to fold it up in my apartment is a substantial benefit to me. I will say, though, this thing is *heavy!* Lift from your legs when pushing it up and lowering it down. I'm 5'2" and I can do it fine, but I must be conscious of my movements to be safe lifting it.
