A book to read and re-read
It's a book to read and re-read. I got to know so much about the sub-conscious brain and how it affects our mood, lifestyle and overall life.

Repetitive and missing depth and detail
I didn't buy it here from Amazon, but since I've been reading this book for about 2 months now(and completed it today), absorbing and analysing every single detail, I would like to write here my point of view. If you are looking for a step by step approach on solution to your addictions, then you'll be disappointed. The entire book sounds like an old person talking to us - everything is repeated again and again! What's said in one topic is repeated in every other topic. The author emphasizes on mindfulness, actually the entire concept of the book is to use mindfulness to break addictions. But only a small part of a chapter was dedicated to mindfulness in the name of "mindfulness meditation", which was totally disappointing. And in every page the author stresses about mindfulness that he failed to explain in detail. So if you want to learn why you do a certain habit then reading only the last chapter of the book is enough. It seems like the author repeated every sentence throughout the book in every chapter for the skippers in us. So even if you're going to skip a few chapters you'll know what the book is about. Brilliant but totally annoying and not worth the time and effort. I felt happy that I finished the book rather than enjoying the process.

Excellent resource
A very important and useful book. I found it comprehensive and easy to read;can help anyone facing addiction and self-destructive behaviour. Almost every page had somethingI could relate to or see the truth of. There is some repetition but always with a new aspect or example,or to tie things together with a new context. Recommended.

Approachable and General but Great Mindfulness
Rewire is an easy to read book that I highly recommend as I think everyone can grow from reading it. Sure, as other reviewers have mentioned, the ideas presented in this book are not new -- but they are established. The main thing for me is the presentation is very well laid out in a well written style that is highly approachable. I have lent this to one friend (the only person I would let see my notes scribbled inside of it) and they strongly agreed with this assessment -- and we both have ADHD, so it's not easy for either of us to sit down and read a book.I would also recommend using Rewire as more of a starting place, however, as it does a better job of introducing its material than fleshing out specific issues the reader may have. Yet, I think that broadens its range of readers who can receive the insights into the self that Rewire can provide. This is a book that may help you to realize issues you didn't realize you had, but in a gentle, accepting way. To flesh out specific issues, it's probably best not to go to a book anyway, but rather use talk therapy and journaling. Overall I find Rewire to be more supplemental or introductory in its uses, but that's how I think basically all self help books are, and Rewire will help you to focus your path toward help partly due to its broad nature. That is, it can help you realize that there may be underlying parts of your struggle that you haven't seen.I find it useful to approach this book in a nonlinear way -- picking out chapters as necessary -- but still find the information in the less pertinent chapters to be insightful into my life, even if it is sometimes indirect. I find it useful to now and again pick this up and review sections so as to remind me of insights, reinforce lessons, and review my favorites of the exercises O'Connor includes at the end of each chapter. Some chapters pertain to me, others don't.For problems like addiction, there are almost definitely better resources than this, but for less acknowledged issues such as procrastination (my favorite thing) it provides a well thought out narrative structure. Though, for addiction, it may help to point out the underlying causes with it's other chapters. My one issue with this book does have to do with its addiction chapter, actually. It is not much more than a rewritten (though waaaay more approachable and accepting) version of the 12 steps.
