A Call to Earth Prayer
According to the authors, "This book is a call to prayer...the healing of our relationship with this planet ultimately needs to emerge from our hearts and spirits." Published in 1991, this book speaks a truth that is more vibrant today than when it was first published more than 25 years ago. The contributions are from around the world which is wonderful. Many of the names in this book are familiar--from St. Francis of Assisi, Emily Dickinson, and Gerald Manley Hopkins to Mary Oliver, Pablo Neruda, and Walt Whitman and there are so many other wonderful names--all with words that provide peace and prayer. The book is nicely divided into eleven parts and the selections make for easy reading of one or a few prayers each day. What I especially like about this book in addition to the wide variety of excellent prayers are both the inclusion of a list of earth prayers by month and day and the index of first lines and authors. The editors provide plenty of ways to discover new days to celebrate and new voices to enjoy.A great book to read, pray, and treasure each and every day!

Non denomination. All inclusive
This is my 3rd copy that I’ve purchased. I lost one during a move. I gave away another as a gift. I’m keeping this one. I use it many times during the month for approximately 20 years now. It’s my go to prayer and meditation book.

A resource I treasure
Thank you Elizabeth and Elias for compiling this wonderful book of earth honoring prayers. I've used it many times to find an appropriate opening or closing to classes or other gatherings where a moment of earth gratitude and awareness was called for. In fact, I've used it so much that I lost it and need to buy another one! It is also a rich source of prayers to use for personal spiritual work, prayers that help slow me down enough to remember the sacredness of the natural world. Even if I'm hard at work in the city and can't be physically present in some of nature's more healing places, at least I can remember to feel the earth beneath my feet, and to honor her. It is a great book just to pick up and browse through, and contains prayers that are ancient and full of the energy of thousands of our ancestors, and prayers that represent a new awakening to our lost heritage. An earth bible for earth lovers! By the way, I've heard rumors of a Volume II. Is it true and can I purchase it here, or elsewhere?

Earth Prayers
Earth Prayers: 365 Prayers, Poems, and Invocations from Around the World by Elizabeth Roberts and Elias Amidon is similar to Life Prayers in its format and content. This book relies more heavily on well-known authors and poets such as Walt Whitman, Hildegard of Bingen, Rumi, Wendell Berry, Thich Nhat Hanh, Henry David Thoreau, and many more. Because the theme of the earth is rather narrow (while at the same time being so very large), the first half of the book seems to run together in its similarity despite the editors’ attempts to categorize poems by themes. The chapter on animals was disturbing for me, an empath who is an unwilling omnivore and former vegetarian, yet others might find it reflective and appropriate. Overall, though, I found the book to contain many beautiful and thought provoking works.

Ecological Inspirations
Prayers and meditations are from a variety of sources including Native American and well presented. I randomly select one or two. Today I selected the Navaho Chant, House Made of Dawn. Excellent collection.

Poems to Help through These Troubled Times
A compendium of poems one can turn to on any day, whether rejoicing in something or looking for some solace during these very trying times. I regularly give this book as a gift.

It's Okay
There are some nice "prayers" in this book - but I feel like this one and it's companion book "Life Prayers" are more collections of poems and sayings than prayers.

almost as good
I had the other book written by these authors and it is a personal favourite of mine. Always illuminating, comforting and inspiring. This collection falls a little short of this. Also I find their habit of missing out titles for the various prayers, invocations etc is really irritating. I like the chunky shape and size of the book.

This is a total must buy for anyone who loves nature or spirituality. A lovely small but thick sized format. Gorgeous non-smooth paper, great texture for following the words with your fingers & connecting with their beauty.

This is a very small book and the paper is poor quality. Some of the writing is good to read however and works well to create awareness of some important world issues.
