Pendaflex SureHook Reinforced Hanging Folders, Letter Size, Standard Green, 20 per Box (8-1/2 x 11)

The parts of wire hanging folders usually used in offices are incapable of holding up when the weight of the paper in them is significant. These on the other hand are extremely sturdy and I have replaced most of the units I use in the office where I work. I would give them more stars if I could.

PROs - you can pull hard on the ends of the metal hanging bars to open them wider, but...CONs - if you have arthritis in your hands, or your are an older woman, you may find it very hard to pull them wider apart, as I did.CONs - if you are sliding the folders forward or back along the bars in the desk drawer, in order to access specific folders, you may find that these folders tend to pop off the rails unless you are very careful to keep them perfectly aligned as you slide them along. Once they pop off, they automatically retract to their shorter width and you have to fight with them to get them back on the rails again.I am using them because it's too late to return the desk I bought, but I think it's only fair that others should be warned about the issues listed above in the pros and cons.

Fast safe delivery. Folders work with a few files or a large bundle. They can be easily moved for accessing files without leaving the track. The reinforcement is well worth the few extra cents for each folder.

The folders are sturdy and live up to their reputation. But two things are a bother. First they are about 3/32 to big for my older desk draw that came with folder rails permamently installed, these folders rub the sides so sliding is a chore. Second the hanger hooks could be another 1/8 longer, folder do come off rails to easily unless full of paperwork to weight them down.

I see it all over Amazon's site. Vendors are allowed to get away with misleading customers about product dimensions. There is no place on this product's page that you can learn that these folders are a quarter of an inch less deep than older Pendaflex folders.Under "Product Dimensions" I've always assumed Amazon lets the vendor put the dimension of the box or package that the item is SHIPPED in, not the dimensions of the product itself because the dimensions they give make no sense to someone trying to find out the actual product dimensions!! But even that is wrong in this case. The box is 3" deep but the other dimensions are not close so the "Product Dimensions" given here are useless.The product description at the top of the page says these are 8 1/2" x 11" folders which we all know can't be the dimensions of a folder intended to hold items of that size. It's just giving us the size of the expected contents.SO BEWARE. This folder is 9" deep (x 11.75" wide not including the hook) which is a quarter of an inch less than the hundreds of older Pendaflex hanging folders I have. That quarter of an inch is enough to make the top of many of my letter size manila file folders sit higher than the plastic labels I attach to these hanging folder making organizing things less clear.Having said that, the folder hooks are very sturdy. The reason I wanted to try them is that my IKEA file cabinet came with hanging folder frames made with circular bars for the rails instead of the usual rectangular rails. So my old Pendaflex hanging folders would not slide easily on the round rails, but these hanging folders slide very nicely.

I am only giving this a four star rating because even though it is considered heavy duty it lacks a little from what I am used to regarding the strength of the rails. Unfortunately, the thickness of the rails has suffered over the years due to the need for profits. If I look at the Pandaflex quality that was offered in the middle 90's it was a lot better than what is considered the super strength they have now. The idea that consumers do not know the difference is a slap in the face to customers but overall it is still a reasonably decent product. However, in no way should it be considered as good as it used to be because it is just not.

These are a great heavy duty hanging file folder. Arrived on time

Hanging pendaflex seems sturdy but only got 20 per box. Should’ve bought local for a better price
