Very Disappointed, 4 serious defects in 2 torches.
The quality control on this product seems non existent.I got this product from a local hardware store hoping to do some brazing and cutting. The nozzle was warped causing the pure map gas flame to be uneven and the oxygen valve was defective. It started out stuck on the off position. When i finally got it turning, it went round 4 times before any oxygen came out, then it suddenly came on blowing out the flame. I was able to get it to brazing flame once, but after that the oxygen vale became worse and it was useless.I returned the torch to the store and they exchanged it. Hoping that the two defects were a fluke I went back home and tried this one. No nozzle problem and i was able to get it to a cutting flame once (oxygen valve still took 4 turns but came on more smoothly). After this first use of maybe 2 minutes, I shut it off but the gas would not turn all the way off. I blew out the flame and detached the torch head assembly. Later that day I tried to use the torch again. The gas was stuck at the same low on level but this time would not turn up at all, so no working flame was possible. Out of curiosity I check the oxygen valve and it too seemed to have become an all on or all off after 4 turns defective valve like the first torch. On the second torch, at least the nozzle was fine.I returned this second one and insisted on a refund. I asked the clerk if he saw many of these returned and he said, "I couldn't say" with a somewhat guilty expression on his face.I want to also note that I was careful about not over tightening the valves and I read ALL the instructions and the trouble shooting guide carefully and followed them because i wanted to show my son the proper use and did not want to have to drive back to the hardware store either time. I did not do the suggested soap and water bubble leak test though because it seems like a waste of time and a possible source of clogs. .Given my experience with this torch i can only guess that the positive reviews are from customers that got lucky or got their torch from a different manufacturer. i can't help but wonder if Benzomatic has recently outsourced to a Chinese manufacturer.

Pricey, disposable
It worked well for both cutting and brazing, but I got a little too close to the work at one point and burned the supplied screw-on tip. I searched around and was unable to find a replacement. I evetually contacted Bernzomatic and was told that there are NO replacement parts available for this item!I found it rather strange to have a $100+ (list price) item made essentially useless by not making a $1.98 piece of brass available. I will NOT be buying another one to obtain a new tip. I find it unacceptable to have a torch made useless for anything otherthan lighting the BBQ for want of a replacement tip.The other drawback to this torch was the life of the oxygen cylinder. Under medium use you can get about 15 minutes of working time per cylinder.I would not recommend this item until Bernzomatic makes the tips available for replacement.

More heat than propane, less functinoal than oxyacetylene
This outfit is "just okay". I got it to solder copper pipe to large brass fittings and for that purpose it's fine. As compared to a proper oxyacetylene outfit, however, it comes up lacking. Although the packaging says it's suitable for cutting it only comes with a welding/brazing type head. Without the extra oxygen boost of a cutting head you'd be hard pressed to do serious cutting. It doesn't have real regulators so adjusting the proper oxygen to MAPP ratio can take a while. If you turn the oxygen knob too fast you'll blow out the flame. It takes a good number of slow turns to get a good neutral flame during which time the MAPP gas will produce its characteristic soot. Also, once you've got a good flame, a slight bump to the oxygen knob can disturb the neutral flame significantly.I got this set from a big home store on the cheap. It's worth what I paid for it. If you have some heavy soldering or light brazing work to do then this set is worth it. If you plan to do welding or frequent brazing then I'd skip past this and get a full oxyacetylene set.

Works pretty good, but the oxygen does not last very long. That's the only reason I'm not giving it five stars.

good stuff
Worked perfectly. I bought this to try and braze a broken car seat and it did a great job. Easy to set up and use. You definitely want to have some torch experience or you may end up wasting a bunch of gas trying to figure out how do the job. My only complain is that they give you a flimsy wire stand for the cylinders. I would've been happy to pay a little extra to get the plastic carrier. Without it you have to contend with a bunch of uncooperative pieces. Other than that I would recommend this for general garage/homeowner work.

Junk. Worked for 10 minutes then not at all
At first the oxygen would blow out the flame. Then it worked OK until after less than 10 minutes it acted like it ran out of oxygen. Next day bought another oxygen bottle. Will not stay lit. Turn on oxygen incredibly slowly but flame always leaves tip then blows out. Lost two days screwing around with this worthless product. Returning it right now. Gargage. Waste of money

very poor piece of equipment
very poor piece of equipment, I judged it by the size of the tanks as opposed to the size of the tanks I periodically fill with gas for jewelry operations. Once it's going, it works, but it seems that every tank of O2 has a mind of it's own. Cuts out a number of times immediately, when it finally starts going, it may blow out in the middle of a delicate operation, dooming the whole soldering process altogether for a lengthy cleanup. Do make something simple, as a ring, you may have to spend around $30 just for O2, as opposed to having a Smith Mini Torch with a B tank filled for around $20, it can do the job, but I would only count on it as a last resort if you were stranded on an island and needed one last soldering to save your life, wastes as much O2 as it uses, and of course, the O2 is twice as expensive as propane, I got one to replace my stolen mini torch, but the frustration of this product will make me save for another one, I'm being considerate giving it 2 stars than just one. Sucks.
