Very Nice Chemex
First, if you're expecting a seamless Chemex in a hand blown version, then you'll be disappointed. I think another review mentioned that they use a mold to hand blow the glass, so there's still a seam...ANYWAY, I've owned the Classic Chemex coffee makers and this hand blown version is a lot nicer -- it looks nicer (the shape is more like original Chemex from way back when), the glass is definitely thicker and the overall build quality is nicer as well. So, it it worth $50 more than the 6 cup Classic version? Well, that depends on you of course... if you have to think about it, then NO is your answer. If you want a nicer Chemex and don't care about the $50 more, then your answer is YES. Regardless of what you get, they work the same and it all comes down to you on whether it can make a good cup of coffee. Oh, I also bought a early vintage Chemex-Pyrex green stamp 6 cup version and they look almost identical in terms of quality, thickness, etc. I don't know the glass composition, but the new hand blown Chemex had a greener tinge to the glass. Also, the Pyrex Chemex had 3 feet build into the bottom, which is different from the ones currently being produced (hmmm.. not sure if that's true on the 3 cup, but I don't own that... yet). Anyway, it's a quality glass product made off in some foreign Eastern Europe land if I remember correctly. I just hope I don't break it....LOL.

Beautiful
This is so beautiful on my kitchen counter and as far as I’m concerned is making the absolutely best coffee I’ve ever had! I purchased with the Breville frother which is also in the picture and together I am making fabulous coffee creations. I think there are two things that I like about making coffee this way. One, I control the temperature of the water and two the filters seem to provide the ultimate filtration delivering in my opinion a superb cup of coffee. I also have a Breville cappuccino maker and it is fantastic however never seems to get the coffee the temperature I prefer and with auto drip type coffee makers keeping the heat on the kettle after brewing. Just as an FYI, with this purchase, I bought the bonavita electric water kettle and I love it as well! I haven’t had to take my Chemex apart to clean, I put some salt in the bottom and use a wooden spoon handle to move a small towel around at the bottom and rinse. I am very happy with this purchase.

I love coffee and this help my obsession even more
I love coffee and this help my obsession even more! I thought that I might regret getting the hand blown version, mainly because of how much more it costs, but I was willing to take the chance. The hand blown one is the one that is in the Museum of Modern Art and I had to get it just for that reason! When I got it, all my worries of regret were gone! I LOVE THIS product! A must have!!!!I would recommend watching a few Youtube videos on the "perfect" way to brew and you'll be set!The only complain is that I have granite counters and I am always afraid to place it too hard. I don't want to shatter it! I'm not saying that the Chemex is fragile by any means. it's just a large glass item that has liquid mass in it!So, I use a wooden trivet for it, but it would be nice that it came with a base. But, It's fine and it works great!

4 star as I so dislike that wood collar
4 star as I so dislike that wood collar . The glass portion is nice and thick and holds heat well. The collar is a pain

Great for Chemex lovers, but unnecessary compared to the normal ones
I bought this because my cat lovingly broke my non-handblown 6-cup Chemex and decided to splurge. This is a very lovely and nice feeling Chemex - the glass is thicker than the non-handblown version, and the shape is slightly different. However - if you aren’t already a Chemex lover, I’d suggest buying the normal non-hand blown version and saving $40-50. They produce very similar coffee with the same method, and you will have money for filters and more coffee!

Happy to have this!
I purchased a stainless steel filter that fits snug inside the top of the glass. (I like non-plastic items that are used with heat - thus my reason for the glass coffee maker too). This is just what I wanted - it is sturdy and easy to use/clean.

Handblow chemex glass is thick
We just received the handblown chemex. After reading reviews comparing the handblown to the regular one we decided to spend a bit more. We don't have the regular chemex to compare it to side by side, but the glass does feels quite thick. My husband is the coffee drinker, but definitely isn't the type to spend $$$ for a coffee maker(especially one that isn't "automatic", but after trying chemex coffee at a coffee shop he's been converted. We are very happy with our purchase and look forward to experimenting with our handblown chemex.

Coffee Cools Down Too Quickly
There was so much hype about this that we gave it a shot. As beautiful as it is aesthetically from a design perspective, along with being eco-groovy, it just wasn’t functional for us. Between brewing, transferring it into our mugs & adding a splash of cream, the coffee cooled down significantly to the point it just wasn’t hot enough to drink. Never had that problem before—very disappointing.

Beautiful piece of functional art
First of all, this arrived in Australia one week to the day after ordering, which is very impressive particularly in these strange times. It is certainly not a regular, machine-made 6-cup Chemex in a hand-blown box as another reviewer suggested, as the vessel is a different shape; it doesn't have the bottom ridge and instead has a rounded edge on the base. Very slight seams are visible down the centre of the pouring channel and on the opposite side, though they are so faint that they're very difficult to convey in photos. I've read suggestions online that the hand-blown version still uses a mould, leading to seams, but can't confirm that. There's an obvious pontil mark on the front and the glass is pretty thick - about 2mm. I'm satisfied that this is the genuine article, but it's worth noting I haven't seen a regular or hand blown Chemex for comparison. Either way it's a beautiful brewer, and I'm looking forward to my filter papers arriving to try it out (has already taken longer to arrive from NZ than this did from the USA!).
