Effective and a Smart Design.
The design of this is so smart compared to other ion purifiers. I really really like it and have purchased 4 of them, 2 for me 2 as gifts.Let me start by hitting on a few things I read in other reviews, The UV light and night light are two separate elements, the UV light is located in the top housing by the fan and is not visible when it is running. The night light has an on off switch but when it is off it is kind of still on, a very very very dim blue light emanates from it. I'm not sure if this is light from the UV bulb or if it is designed that way. The unit does sound like it has something loose in it when you move it. Like other ionic purifiers it has very fine wires that transfer the charge to the core. The build up dust and the noise you hear is actually cause by a cleaning mechanism. The wires have bearings on them instead of a manual slide, so when you tip the unit the spheres will slide up and down on the wires and clean them off. This does produce a minute amount of ozone according to the book it is 0.05 parts per million (PPM).. Also, yes this may cause dust to fall out of the air, the negative charge it produces causes molecules to stick together and the heavier dust may fall out and build out around it. Better for it to be on a surface where you can whipe it up instead of floating in the air you breath, right? Over time the dust will decrease as more and more is removed. This is not a HEPA filter, if you need every single piece of dust and pollen removed and don't mind buying expensive filters every few months then maybe this is not for you.Like I said the design is very smart, the air enters from the bottom, passes over a seamless core (which is extremely easy to clean then through a carbon filter and over the UV light. The fan is located at the top of the unit and unlike with other fan driven ionizers it is receiving cleaned air instead of dirty air which makes the fan far less likely to build up dust on it.The core is my favorite part. Unlike other ionizers that use fin or plate like anodes that are tightly spaced and hard to clean in-between the core of this is a 4 sided seamless design that is super easy to wipe off. Plus these haven't yet made that annoying crackling noise that other ionizers make when they are dirty. It is fairly effective at removing odors, the cores have captured a lot of fine particulates from the air in my home. I was really shocked to see how much black particulate carbon / soot ended up on the cleaning rag which I assume is coming from the increasing traffic and the gas / oil boom around here. It was disturbing but I am glad it is out of tge air. The UV-C light helps a lot with bacterial odors from things like litter boxes, stinky shoes, dish sponges etc. Plus UV-c light can kill or disable viruses and bacteria leading to over all better health and air quality.I recently spent 35$ on a plug in UV-C purifier without the ionizer from my bathroom so for just a few buck more you can get a much better option for odor removal and air purification. I have used many ionizers and filters over the course of my life and I can so I do really like this. I can not speak to the longevity of the product as I have only been using them for about 3 weeks, time will tell.

Does its job and doesn't take up space! Love it.
Works great in the bedroom. My bedroom is 10x12. I'm really allergic to cats but made a commitment to my buddy 3 years before I developed allergies. With this purifier I can enjoy his presence without dealing with a stuffy nose and watery, itchy eyes. The ion purifier came in a two boxes, one within the other, and a manual to explain operations and maintenance. I included Totoro for a size comparison. The purifier is only good in the one room, it doesn't work in the whole apartment, my apt is ~800 ft. My cat is a light shedder and my apt is practically empty. I included pics of the switch on the bottom that turns the blue light on for looks. The top rectangle above the word "ion" you press to open the cartridge, brush the air filter clean and cleanse the cartridge. The switch on top has 3 options with the far left being "off". The back has a handle to grab and carry but it's recommended you keep an dither hand under the purifier to be careful. The bottom back sucks in the air and the front releases the purifier air. I'm not bothered by the green light at night but I'm also not a light sleeper. I have only 1 cat and no other pets or children.

So far so good
please excuse my bad English skill...My previous Ionic Pro broke after 11 years of usage. It's the same common reason as everyone - the clean red light won't go off -> nothing starts.so I decided to purchase this one to have a different experience.this is a half sized one of my previous Ionic Pro. The blue light you saw is like a night light. I can't turn it off, but it doesn't bother me.For noise:Oion B-1000 use fan to suck air in and blow out from the top-right little window there. The noise of the fan is equal to laptop cooler fan-noise that level (or some neighbor is showering/use water at cheap hotel or apartment that level of loudness). you can feel it circulating the air inside the room (12' x 12') a little. I haven't yet clean the stainless steel blade yet. I just want to do the experiment what will happened. by this time the old Ionic Pro, which required me clean every 2 weeks, already making annoying noise. However, Ionic Pro is an extremely quiet device that you will forget it exist. The only time you hear anything is because it's dirty. For cleaning (theory)for this one you have a triangular-like tube for collecting dust. in some sense, you have 4 usable surfaces to collect dust. Ionic Pro has 4 isolated blades, so that's 6 surfaces to collect. Oion use air flow... so that means the slightly loose dust will actually get carried away by the airflow again to the room. so... for this "theory" Oion lose one star for the design...About Ozone:I don't sense it. maybe due it's half size of the previous ionic pro in length and half again in surface area. so the ozone I can detect is only 1/4...so it don't bother me.About UV light.I hated it. [theory] in order to kill stuffs, you need certain exposure of the UV light. let's say X energy. this X energy is an equation of UV lamp power and how long you expose the germ. So, now is the question... it has a strong air flow and bringing things around...if the germ has bad luck got captured by the static charge and trapped by the blade, it will be dead. however, if it's just got carried by the air stream and only get certain UV exposure (not dead), it will be released again to the air. If you don't kill it, it has chance (maybe 0.001%) to be stronger. Thus, I hate the UV thing.however it's because the air flow thing, so the same star was deducted from previous.Installation and use:it's came with pre-installed. pretty much just plug and use. it's much easier than Ionic Pro (I can imagin) for cleaning the blade and reinstall again.
