well defined directions as always
I can always count on a book by Lori Burke to have clear directions for recipes. No pictures in this book, but I can work without pictures. I did take off a star because I feel pictures are important in a cookbook, even as basic guidelines. There are also a few spelling errors found that do not distract from the book. There are a few hints for making the cakes more calorie/health conscious but it is a booklet about ice cream cakes. My ice cream cake making will have to wait for a bigger freezer, didn't think it through before getting this book.Book was provided free through amazon promo and I snapped it up, I love Lori Burke's recipe guides! Review is my honest opinion.

Cool Cakes!
I have never encountered an ice cream cake in all of my 41 years in England, but this book soon changed that. After previously reading another of Lori's books about Icebox Cookies (again, I hadn't discovered those prior to reading) I was pretty sure that it was going to be worth a read. And yep, it certainly is!As long as you have a little time on your hands, these easy to to follow recipes make some magnificent puds for special occasions. I've tried the Cherry Chocolate Ice Cream Cake, and along with a rather spendid mess, I made an excellent treat for the in-laws at Easter. My only slight issues are that...1 - You can't get all these yummy ice cream brands in the UK (some, but not all)2 - The 'For The Health-Conscious'section - seriously, if you are buying an ice cream cake book then you should be expecting full fat high calorie deliciousness! These aren't supposed to be part of every day meal plans! Stuff the sugar-free chocolate chips and Splenda!...but overall a smashing book on unusual and delectable desserts.

Went down too well!
...as in I ate too much!Over Easter, it rained a fair bit, so the activities I had lined up for our grandchildren (like egg painting) ran out more quickly than expected. What to do? Yes! Try out some recipes from Lori Burke's new cookbook, the icrecream cake one. There was a bit of a squabble about which to make, so we decided on one half sized one each (which made 4). I can't pretend it wasn't messy, but it was fun and successful. There was a big family gathering the next evening and the icecream cakes were rolled out at, duly admired, and then disposed of at great speed.Being in the UK, we used different premium icecreams, toppings and biscuits (cookies), and they were fine. It was an Easter treat, so we kept to the double cream, egg yolks and sugar.I've made my own icecream before (savoury ones too), but they have to be defrosted for 2 hours before they're soft enough to use, so this was a pleasant departure. The 'cake' aspect was a super idea.

30 Delicious Ice Cream Cake Recipes By Lori Burke by Lori BurkeI always thought it was too hard to make these but after going through the book and the tips I found out that some might be a bit time consuming.Even using low fat ingredients you can let your imagination go wild with the combinations of cookies, ice cream and toppings to create one of your own.I especially like the simplest ones: ice cream and some syrup and some cookie crumbs.

Ice Cream Cakes, YEAH!
I am so glad to see another book by Lori Burke and even happier that it is an ice cream cake book! In recent years my family celebrates every occasion with ice cream cakes and now we can make them ourselves using this easy to follow cookbook. Everyone agreed that we would start with the Raspberry Pistachio ice cream cake first, but there are so many delicious recipes to choose from.Just like Lori's previous books, every recipe is written clearly with step-by-step directions so there is no way you can make an error. The book is also well-formatted so it is easy to navigate. If you have ever wanted to make ice cream cakes, or if you want lots of recipes to choose from, or both, this is a great book to have. I know our family will use it a lot!

Another winner!
I've purchased one of the author's other dessert books so naturally I snagged this one as well. I've been a fan of ice cream cakes since I was a little kid so I am always looking for new recipes to try out.The books offers a great variety of recipes and they are seems easy to follow. I've attempted only a few of them so far and they came out quite delicious! What I love most about this cookbook are the tips that the author gives in the beginning of the book. Some of the ice cream cakes can get a little tricky, especially for the beginners but the author does a good job at giving the basics of what to do, how to do it and when to do it!If you are into ice cream cakes, I would highly recommend getting this book!

Easy and good ice cream cakes
I received this book free. I was hoping for recipes for cakes like DQ. I have made a couple of the recipes and guest enjoyed them. Most recipes call for crumb bases instead of cake. Recipes are easy to make. I will be trying a few more of these cakes for summer cookouts as part of my pot luck dishes. I have my hot fudge sauce bought for the next cake. A friend said the cake I took to her house when she was recovering from an injury was a hit with family and friends.

GOOD, EASY RECIPES
This book has served me well as it gave me a reminder of recipes that I had made long ago but more or less had forgotten about over time. It also gave me a few new ideas/recipes to try out and to me, one good recipe in a book is worth its weight in ice cream!!!! :)The pictures are enticing and the recipes are so easy to follow. For a family with children who love ice cream desserts this should be a big plus for you to have this nice selection of cakes to make. all in one book.
