Perfect for your beach bag, it's tiny!
I love rocks and this book is a great addition to bring with you on trips for identification. It is much smaller in size than I imagined, but I am sure that is in the description and I missed it. It works much better that way anyway! There are good pictures and great descriptions.

Good book needs better binding
Great book with beautiful pictures. However, like some others have commented, the book was already falling apart when I opened it. The glue on the book’s spine needs to be a little better. Otherwise great content

Dated language but informative
Dude. Seriously? Husband bought this for me. If you do a reprint, consider renaming the, “halfbreed” rock. You knew it was wrong in 2010.Also, using “flesh-colored” as a descriptor? Whose flesh? You mean all flesh tones?I can give you 50 synonyms for various flesh tones.Halfway in, but is very clear and informative.

New rock hounds will benefit
This is a great guide when beginning to collect rocks.

Love the color photos
This has got to be the "go to" book for any rockhounds of the Great Lakes. While the author mentions where on Lake Superior rocks can be found, they are also found in other places, not just Lake Superior. Most of them he identifies are also on our Lake Huron beach. Love the color photos and information with it. I bought another book at the same time, but this one is best.

Rocks/minerals
Nice, pocket sized version so easy to carry along on your hunts. However, pages are already starting to pull away from the spine after just a few weeks.

Not For Lower Peninsula Rock Pickers
I was hoping this book would help me identify rocks found on Lake Erie, Huron and Michigan Beaches but the majority of stones/minerals are found in the UP, road cuts, quarries or mine dumps. It is a nice companion to the book the focuses on Lake Superior rocks and minerals.
