Have a Question? See What Others Asked

Viewing angle says 69.9 degrees - is this a typo? Thats not very wide at all - 160 would be wide.. this is quite narrow.
Will this fit in the pi zero official white and red case?
Is there a case or housing I can purchase that fits this camera?
Could I dismount this lens and affix it to a v2 picamera?

This camera module is EXCELLENT. The field of view is massive (see attachments for comparison with V1 camera at same position). I found the level of distortion more than acceptable given the FOV. I needed a wide angle lens that was smaller than an iphone clip-on attachment, and this is far smaller. The quality of the image is really good (in fact, it looks better than my original raspberry pi camera module). If you're looking for a wide angle customization on your Pi camera, you're not going to find anything smaller than this with this quality of lens + this FOV + plug and play, with no assembly required.FYI, this module is compatible with a Pi Zero, just use the pi zero camera ribbon. It's a bit loose when slid into the camera module connector, but clamps down fine.

Very wide, pretty good quality, focusing is a pain

It's pretty nice. Doesn't fit in standard camera mounting holes. Had to modify the case I'm using. It is super wide.To start using the camera make sure your raspberry pi is up to date:apt-get updateapt-get upgradeAnd enable the camera in the rasoberry pi config menusudo raspi-config# Choose 'Interfacing Options'# Enable the cameraIt will require a reboot. If you need to focus the camera I recommend setting up a stream. I installed VLC, started a stream, and connected to it from another computer:apt-get install vlcsudo raspivid -o - -t 0 -hf -w 1920 -h 1080 -fps 25 | cvlc -vvv stream:///dev/stdin --sout '#standard{access=http,mux=ts,dst=:8090}' :demux=h264Then used VLC on a different system to stream from the raspberry pi (Open Network, set URL http://IPADDRESS:8090/, and Open it)

It works great. I mounted this to my CNC router and it allows me to keep an eye on that crazy bugger. The fish eye isn't too wide that it's annoying to look at. It's about what you'd expect. A large field of view.

Beware of screw holes!!

As someone already wrote before me, be careful with the screw holes, if you use metal screws or metal standoffs and those in turn touch a metal surface, you will have a short. In my case it fortunately didn’t damege neither mi pi nor the camera. Since I had no plastic standoffs I ended up using the inside ink tube of a bic pen! Picked the tip up on the internet (see pictures). The camera quality is good enough for what I need but the thing with the screw holes makes me give this review only 3 stars.

Huge FOV, No Fisheye

Beautiful image quality, and HUGE field of view. I didn’t expect the extra 3Mpx to make that much of a difference over the standard RPi cams, but this was a really pleasant surprise. Another nice touch is that there’s no fisheye effect at all. Really impressive little camera. Exactly what I needed.

Poor quality, don't use screw holes, over-priced!

Cons- the screw holes should not be utilized. Two of them cause shorts on the pcb that may destroy your camera if you don't catch them. I ended up using rubber bands to attach the cameras, but this is after I bought nuts and bolts specifically sized for these tiny holes.- the quality is really bad for a $25 camera. My smartphone from 2009 had a better camera.- Cable is super short, but I knew that when I bought it. still doesn't change the fact that a $25 camera should come with a longer cable.- the attachment mechanism for the ribbon cable was loose on one of the two cameras I bought. Can't fix it. I just hold it in place externally.Pros:- it takes pictures. woot! jk...no pros.

Perfect for a Webcam

Built a small Raspberry Pi webcam to monitor the front door. Completely isolated on the home network. No internet connectivity, so it won't be sharing its imagery with China!! Painted and decorated the box to make it fancy looking. Uses the Motion software. Had a few issues finding the right settings that were stable. Was getting some purple flickering/distortion and the camera would lock up frequently. But finally found settings that were stable. The camera is connected to a Vilros Raspberry Pi 4 Basic Starter Kit with Fan-Cooled Heavy-Duty Aluminum Alloy Case (2GB, black) found here on Amazon. Overall, a successful project!

The seller was really awesome because they offered to get a replacement even 2 months after the purchase, when I realized the camera may not be working. However, it was only out of focus and I had to turn it on its screw mounts. The camera is what it is... not sharp colorful images, but enough I suppose for my little DIY robotic car.
