Sky Amstrad DRX890 HD Box

I tired of my old basic Sky + box and wanted connection to the Internet so that I could get the catch services and films. I saw this box and thought great. It was easy to connect to the Internet and my surround sound system. Sky's rather archaic system means I needed an HDMI cab,e and an optical cable. The difference in sound without the surround system was striking and with my AV system wonderful, I did have to go through Sky to get my card registered to the new ox and they were a bit grumpy that I had not bought from them, but it is a free world. The box worked perfectly first time. I have saved stacks of stuff, far more than I can view and I have hardly dented the storage space. The catch up services are superb, but that is probably the Sky services, but this box serves them up beautifully. If you want all the Sky services that your old box can't give you, get one of these and you do. It get tied to an extra monthly fee payable to Sky.

Worked faultlessly straight from the box. I was replacing an older HD box which didn't respond to a system reset. Plugged in the new box (box not linked to my WiFi yet) logged on to the Sky site on my computer and completed the new box registration with the existing Sky card details, and the box was up and running in 5 minutes.

I can't believe I didn't write a review of this before. This was the best buy I have made. £80 for a product that would cost £250 anywhere else. I cannot express how amazed that I got this for the price and I have had it over a year and it still works perfectly.

The product arrived very quickly, ie next day. Now I can store loads of HD films and there is plenty of spare capacity. Very glad I spent the extra money. Search the web to find out how to install this new machine without having to call out an expensive sky engineer, its very easy.

Received overnight - excellent service - seller answered two minor queries - very helpful. Bought to replace an ageing HD box - plugged in and working in a couple of minutes, with great recording facilities and storage - now I have Sky Anytime + as well, which the old Thomson box cannot handle. Really pleased

Its Sky so you expect to be fleased anyway but at least the box wasnt too expencive.The kids and her indoors like it, even if I dont like paying for it.

I had the first generation Thompson HD box and the picture quality has improved immensely. This does not just have more storage but it allows the new Anytime+ video on demand service if you've got an internet connection.Highly recommended upgrade from our previous box.

Only 1 TB although advertised as 1.5 TB. Mis-sold really.
