Spicer 50491 Axle Shaft Seal

Fits exactly like the stock seal which is super tight. You absolutely need the seal driver tool if you want to install it without destroying it. I would also recommend a hydraulic press to press the seal on instead of hammering it on and it will be much easier. I did both seals on my 2004 f350 and it only took a couple minutes with the seal tool and press. If you try to hammer it on without the right tool like and idiot it will seem like it doesn’t fit and you will just destroy it. Any bad reviews are from people who didn’t know what they were doing.

These are real Spicer parts that came in. These are the same exact ones that come from Ford in the Ford packaging... for those wondering.I bought Ford ones and tried to save some money and install them without the tool and ruined them.Added the tool to the cart and came across these and ordered them also. Do yourself the favor and buy the install tool!

Hey I got it right,, looks good,, feels good,, must be good!! Sometimes I order the right part and sometime I don't.. when I don't ,, I cut myself a break, like I do for the sellers on Amazon,,. This one time, on a online auction, I accidently bought a kayak,,, wife was mad, didn't cut me a break.

Perfect fit! However, you absolutely NEED the tool that is used to put this guy on. Anyone can do it, IF they use this part. I smashed my first one, and had to order this second replacement because I didn’t buy the tool. Please buy the tool, and save yourself hours of headache. Easy to put in, no problems with it and got the job done

This seal is a pain in the rear to install without an installer tool. I was able to make one like several others have then is was easy. I like the way this seal bonded to the axle shaft. This makes a tight seal that will allow the vacuum hubs to work properly. I have been manually locking my hubs but no longer need to do this.

This seal worked perfectly for my 2004 F-250 6.0. I’ve had it on the truck for 4 months and it’s still working great. When I installed it, I didn’t buy the installation tool. I just built one out of a electrical pvc reducer, a sort length of pipe and a plumbing pvc cap. This part is essential to making your auto lock hubs engage when applying vacuum to the axle.
