Shires Equestrian Horse Poultice Boot

I bought these for my Anglo Arabian mare after she poked a nail in the sole of her hoof and was needing comfort as well as something to keep the poultice on. I wasn't expecting much but thought I would try it as it was one of the cheaper options but looked like a decent quality, plus it didn't come in a bunch of sizes so I hoped it was a one size fits all thing. I got it in and tried it out and LOVE it! It fit her perfectly, she wears it all day long and it fits fine. The only issues I have had have been 2, 1 is the velcro does wear out and she has a very very narrow area above her hoof (right below the fetlock) so to get the boot tight enough the velcro sticks off the edge and she brushes it with her other hoof so it has created a lot of wear on the end of the velcro. The boot stays on fine though and doesn't try to come off. Isn't hard to get on either. The only other issue I have had, which would happen with any boot, is we have been having an enormous amount of rain lately so due to that it runs off her and into the boot and then she ends up walking in a puddle of water, which as any horse owner knows wet hoofs breed bacteria and germs. I'm having to keep taking it off, drying it out and replacing, but that isn't the fault of the boot in my opinion because any would probably do it. Overall I'm extremely happy!

Really is a good boot, but the picture shows two boots when there is only one in the package. No where in the details, title, or description does it say only one boot.

I ordered the Tough-1 size large boot first, which was too big for my 15.2 slender Appy. It looked like it would fit my draft horse, although I didn't try. Anyway, I ordered this Shires boot in a medium and it was much smaller. It fits snugly on my Pegasus. Pegasus's foot is about 5"x6". The boot is kind of tight squeezing it on, but fits well once it's on. My boy had surgery on his coffin bone last week, he is wearing a hospital plate over his shoe and then he gets it wrapped in vet wrap to keep debris out. I purchased this so that he can go outside for a while each day without getting his wound area wet. So far so good!

Great product but, identical boot at tractor supply for half the price.

I purchased a medium boot for my 14.1 horse, trying to follow the sizing guidelines and the boot was bigger than I expected. I tried to fill it with cotton to make it a little tighter around the ankle but it kept going sideways. I guess I will only use it if I need to soak his foot on crossties.

It was smaller than other boots we have gotyen list at the same size.

Bought because they were a pair, I only received one boot. Shows two in the add, could not find where it says otherwise. Should have received two.

I bought this boot in XL but it wasn't big enough for my horses foot. He is an 18hh ID X TB but he doesn't have huge feet.. Perhaps 6-7" at the widest part. There was no way I was getting this on, despite my horse very patiently standing with his sore foot in the air for 10 minutes and especially not with a poultice and vetwrap already on the hoof. I would advise that if you have a big horse or a cob with big feet this won't fit. I also think that even if you do squeeze it on, it will be very difficult to get off as the rubber will stick to the latex in the vetwrap.I'm sure that if it were bigger it would have been a great help, but obviously I couldn't test it properly. It certainly appears very sturdy and the non slip sole is a great addition.

Product sizing is an issue. Ordered using the measurements given. Boot was too small for my horse. As I tried the Boot on my horse and got shavings inside I could not return it.

Brilliant boot, ordered medium for my new forest pony and they fit perfectly. Will definitely purchase again.
