all good
Did not have any problems with heating up, used on one lamb over the period of about 2 hours, taking a break about every 15 minutes. Yes, this is a long time for one lamb, but it was our first time on a 4-h project so we were taking our time and going slow to make pretty ! I did purchase and use both the blade oil and cooling spray, i would say they are necessary so get them, but get the cheapest ones. It comes with one blade, which leaves about 1/8" of wool, and i found out at show time that we should have used a second blade with a finer cut for a final pass .... if you are showing check with someone in the know on the size. Other than that, it worked great, low vibration, easy to handle for long periods, great price, i cannot imagine ever having to by another one for as little as we use it once a year, but even if you used it every day i suspect it would last for years.

WORKS EASY AS 123!
Had to tell all interested that this Shear is GREAT . Easy to use right out of the box and a good value for the money.I was very surprised as to how well this shear preformed and a must buy if in need. I highly recommend this for any body but keep in mind it is a fairly heavy tool for a younger person but that's it. All in all buy one you'll love it !

Good price, and as a longtime sheep shearer, I was pleased with this unit.
Since the 1980s I have been using a high end $$$ electric shear brand on my herds of Shetland sheep. I was replacing my previous electric shears after they had been lost. I was dubious about not knowing this brand, and the lower price, but I took the gamble, since I only have 5 animals to shear currently.I was pleasantly surprised. I sheared my 5 sheep in around an hour, and unlike some reports, the electric shears did not get hot. I did keep them oiled and Kool Lubed between sheep. Although I did not use the variable speeds, I am glad they are available. There were few second cuts which I was pleased about as I am a handspinner, and I dont like 'slubby' yarn. I did not give 5 stars, but over time I will see how they hold up to use. I also shear other people's llamas, alpacas and their herds of sheep and Angora goats.I liked the longer electrical cord, and the colour option (I chose green). If you are not used to using shears like this, I would be really hesitant about using them on your dog. As a former vet tech, I can see you having to take your canine to the vet from nicking from the shear teeth, and they are unforgiving. The weight was good, and not heavy in my hand, and fit my hand very well. The case seems sturdy, and although I did not use them, it was nice there was gloves and a container for oil included.

Great product:
Great clippers, they worked nicely on my alpacas tangled wool (they’re just pets so we don’t go to great lengths keeping their fur combed and protected from the rain). Using these shearers was like shearing butter. Unfortunately the oil that came with was all dried up for me, but I already had some on hand. I would invest in some cooling spray because it really works well with this product, I sprayed about every 2 minutes and in the two hour time frame I was shearing (with small breaks) the clippers never got extremely hot! Also, make sure the bolts holding down the blades are tight, if the biggest blade rises too much you’ll run into some issues. It’s a good chance to take them apart and clean them up before tightening the bolts and continuing shearing.

Not the worst not the best
It does amazing for the price but it does get very hot if your doing more then 1 animal at a time it also takes a while to make it though thicker wool and I've had to replace the blades on these more often then others

Excellent product for dogs as well.
Very efficient on 1 level setting, did end up giving my dog a nick my fault caused a skin tear (stitches) so need to be careful and pull skin to prevent that. I have 2 goldendoodle and they had matted hair post winter n I tried all possible expensive trimmer n wasted 300dollars. My husband n I are happy with the product and works good on dogs and gives an even cut. Would definitely recommend for matted dog hair.

Poor quality
Undersized cord, got hot, excess vibration, noisy, maybe good for one animal. NOT for Professionals. I cannot imagine them lasting (at all?) as long as some of our other old clippers. We have a couple pair of Stewart that are 50 years old and still work...and these are definitely not made to that quality. Maybe good to trim your dog once in a while...very affordable...but if yu average it out over 50 years, give me the best quality and make my job easier....maybe they will smooth out after a few hours....??? or get hotter??.

GREAT shearing machine
I bought this shearing machine as a back-up for my regular machine for shearing my llamas. I am so impressed with this shearing machine. First I will address the "cons" listed on other reviews. Yes the machine gets hot after running for sometime, but so do my other, more expensive shearers! I think it is quite smart of the company to include gloves! Yes, it is a bit heavy as compared to my other shearer, butnot so heavy that I can't shear a couple of llamas before my arm gets tired. I am very impressed with the variable speed and how well it cuts even at the lower speed. I have sheared 3 heavy wool llamas on 1 set of blades, and it is still good for more. I highly recommend this shearer!
