Stops sediment buildup
I had been using a 50 micron filter as that was the type that came with my GE whole house filter. However, I was still getting dirt (or rust). White t-shirts turning off color. Sediment buildup in toilet tank. I cleaned the toilet tank and then installed the filter. Sediment accumulation seems way down. I was concerned that it would clog up too quickly - and cause a loss of water pressure. I normally let the 50m filters stay in for 3 months. I took the first 1 micron out after 2 months. It was full of sediment, but had not "blown" and I had not noticed a drop in water pressure. Am letting my second one stay in for 3 months. I'll have to report on t-shirts later.

If you have iron in your water this works by by.
I live in Oregon on well water with iron in it. filtering it 1 micron will remove much of it and make it taste better but with iron comes hard water producing staining in clothing. Next fix is a water softener. Have your water tested to see if it would help.

If you have a multi gallon water pump on your well this 1 micron filtering ability whole house water filter will greatly reduce the sediment and other bad things in your well water.
