Perfect to learn how to design sweater knitted flat
I am absolutely delighted with this book. All the explanations are for designing sweaters knitted flat. Which is exactly what I was looking for.I think it is best suited for intermediate knitters. There is no explanation for adaptation for the bustline, which is why I didn't give it five stars.Still a very good book, with clear indications.

A bit complicated ...
Well, I don't think I'm going to get the full value of this book unfortunately.I will be able to use the patterns for the necks, and the ribbing trims, but I get a bit panicky with numbers (sudoko puzzles bring me out in a cold sweat) so I won't be able to work out the patterns for the actual garments. This is a shame as the idea of having the basic shape bodies, arms and necks to mix and match is great, and I was really looking forward to using them.

Excellent reference book for designing your own sweaters.
Although I haven’t had time to use the book yet, I have read enough to realize I can make matching family sweaters for Christmas in a range from newborn to 3XXX.

Not for beginners
Its a time saver book for experienced /professional knitters.I had Ann Budd’s books on my wishlist for a long time, but I guess this book has more info for various pockets and collars and neck styling. But for knitters like me who swear by guage calculation for estimating stitch cast on count and shaping, its more of a cross check referance book.Cardigans can be made by dividing front in two parts and including/subtracting plackets.Measurnments are unisex for straight fit and can be easily incorporated for teens and men,Xs to 4xl usually covers almost all sizes. For beginners,I would suggest to combine this book with Amy Herzog’s ‘You can knit that’ to really understand how different types of sleeves and armholes are constructed,or they will surely be lost here. The end pages of the books giving diagrammatical explanations of various knitting techniques are a good addition for knitters. But all the diff pockets and collar types will be confusing for beginners,as explanations expect you to know how they are consructed. Its more of a knitters journal where all the various techniques, tit bits and tricks are usually jotted down for future referance. And there is ample empty space here that I can actually copy down my own knitting diary to have all info in one place.

Excellent resource!
As the reviews indicated- great book! This is a must for knitters! And a greater “must” for the seasoned knitter who wants a break from all those calculations! I have recently taken a nose dive into crochet and all of these combinations of patterns easily incorporates crochet edgings and finishes!Great medium for even more creativity!
