Greatest Guinness Book I've Ever Read
I read a lot of Guinness World Records books, while mostly being intrigued by the gamer's edition. I think this is one of the only traditions I follow each year by buying them. Anyway, this book is extremely essential to any gamer, while also being quite entertaining. The reading can be difficult at times with it being divided into the columns and all, though. It's very informative by keeping me in touch of which games I should buy or look forward to. It focuses on positive and negative elements while still making the games sound worth your time. I totally recommend this book! Buy it and read for yourself! There are some grammar mistakes that occur quite frequently, though, while that's not a large deal in the scheme of things. The books also come out at a peculiar date, considering that many games from 2014 still weren't released by the time of this publication. I also feel that many games were forgotten; i.e. Mirror's Edge (makes cameo), Five Nights at Freddy's, Terraria, Far Cry 4, Bayonetta 2 (cameo), Bloodborne, etc.In conclusion, this book is great. Loved it. Didn't read all of the hundreds upon hundreds of facts, though, so don't ask me what the 3rd best-selling Just Dance spin-off Disney crossover is! (Probably wasn't one, but y'know!) Like I said earlier, buy it and read it for yourself! And, as that guy from GTA V put it, "Shut up and do as I say!"

A good read
This is the second Gamer's edition of GWR I've read, and they've both been great. It's chock full of interesting records and facts about some of the most popular game series of all time. It's presented in a slightly different format this time, going with a list of top 50 games/game series and providing a couple pages on each one. The problem with any kind of ranking, though, is that one doesn't always agree with what is and isn't included, and what rank the included ones received. Since it was culled from an online readers' poll I suppose it shouldn't be surprising that such games as Call of Duty and Halo ranked in the top 5, but I'm blown away that traditionally highly ranked games such as Half-Life, Mass Effect, and Fallout barely made it into the top 40, and all ranked below Pro Evolution Soccer.Ignoring the ranks, though, it's a great read, and very entertaining. I enjoyed the featured about hand-held systems and their evolution, but the section about consoles was so-so. Images of the insides of consoles with each part labeled (like the fan and the power cord) didn't really interest me.

Really enjoyed by a young gamer
Purchased this for my 7 year old gamer nephew and he was very excited to get it. Encourages him to read and learn more, while also entertaining him. Some of the info is definitely beyond his reading level, but his parents help him with that. I wish it had even more pictures/photos in it as he and my boys really enjoyed just flipping through and looking at all the different games and records. Nice sized book we got for a great price. Definitely recommend for a young gamer

Make sure it is what you think it is
I gave this 3 stars, for being not quite as expected. Being Guiness World Record gamer edition, I obviously expected records.I expected things like "The fastest play through of Super Mario Bros 3 is 17 minutes 45 seconds"Instead you get things like "The fastest game to make a billion dollars is GTA5" .. or "The longest running game is The Oregon Trail"I really wanted to give this more stars because it is technically "records". It just isnt the records of gamers. It is more a history of games / game "fun facts"*To be clear, for what it is, it is a good read. If video games and video game history interests you, you might enjoy this book.

Family gamer loves it
Family gamer loves it. Good if you have a kid who like to dish out facts and figures on everything. May not be for every kid, check first. Doesn't have Plants vs. Zombies in this edition, not a deal breaker at this point... but should be included in next sdition to be comprehensive.

10 year old approves!
I purchased this item for my ten year old brother. He has the regular Guiness World Records, but when he saw the advertisement for this book, he HAD to have it. He enjoys playing video games (especially Minecraft), and he enjoyed this book! He has been trying to break some of the records.

Worth it
Worked well for about a year and a half, battery is hooped now so pretty much have to keep it plugged in. Battery might last an hour tops at this point. That said, Quality is excellent. Super rugged design (I've dropped it a thousand times, sounds great) and it actually gives out some monster sound for what it is.

... a huge gamer himself so hopefully he will be delighted with this
Ordered for my friend's son for Christmas as he is a huge gamer himself so hopefully he will be delighted with this. The only surprise was that it wasn't hardback as I had expected but the price was very reasonable.
