Justifiably ubiquitous and totally worth it.
Yes, folks. This knife lives up to the hype. In this size-range, this is the best all-around outdoors knife you can get for the money. It's basically above reproach. Durable, beefy, sharp, high-quality, sexy, comfortable, functional, and built like a tank. Yes, it's a relatively pricey knife, but you get the sheath (not Kydex but a high-quality plastic), and that awesome no-questions-asked lifetime guarantee that ESEE Knives offers. Just pick it up and get it over with. You're going to try other, similar knives, and many of those knives will be truly excellent. But none of them are the ESEE 6. It's that simple.

Highly Recommend
I purchased this knife as my main fixed blade survival / bushcraft / camping knife. My wife bought the Ontario RAT-7 because it was approximately 1/2" longer. Upon receipt of both knifes they are pretty much identical, however the build quality and sharpness of the ESEE was obviously higher, grips mated with the fixed blade better and the blade it'self was sharper. The balance feels spot on and the weight makes the knife feel as though it will be able to withstand some heavy use. They kydex sheath is worth the extra money, the knife locks into the sheath without the use of any straps, velcro or snaps. The cord that comes with the sheath is actual 550 paracord and not some cheap cotton lace such as the one found on the Ontario RAT-7. I can't wait to get this thing out into the woods and start using it.

Amazing knife, very sharp
Amazing knife, very sharp, I've tested it by chopping a green shelled coconut, it did the job perfectly and the blade's still sharp. If you have to choose between a Falkniven F1 or a Kbar and this one, buy it...F1 doesn't stand a chance, the blade will suffer badly, nothing stands against a carbon blade for durability and toughness and that's exactly why we need an outdoor knife. Thanks Esee. Proud to own one and as an ex Israeli military this knife is the best out there for survival but not for tactical. If you need a military grade knife for tactical, search for military grade tactical knife on Google. All the best.

This is a great knife! I originally bought a K-Bar BK7 and the ESSSE was far superior. The handle feels great, and the blade size and shape is perfect for my needs. I use this knife for camping and splitting small peices of wood. So far it shows very little wear and the edge has held up great. I will be buying more ESSE brand knives.

Good Knife with a Razer Sharp Blade
The Esee 6 is an excellent survival knife. When building a survival kit it is important to choose the right knife, as they are infinitely useful, and should be were the majority of your money goes. The ESEE 6 is a very sharp knife with a full flat grind, and it is great for splitting wood, especially for firemaking. One should be careful though, as a friend of mine was using it to split a log and it accidentally slipped and cut his hand. Even with very little force behind it it created a deep enough cut (4 stiches) on his index finger. However this is just a testament to how razor sharp this knife is and it should be handled with care. The sheath is a decent sheath that works okay. The micarta handles are nice and are definitely ergonomic enough for me. The blade is excellent, and strong, and the coating is good, as 1095 steel can rust, so it is important to take good care of your ESEE. However feel free to hammer on this blade as it is backed by ESEE's spectacular warrantee, which is amazing. Overall this is an excellent knife, and you will not regret purchasing it.

Superb blade for survival
Amazing. I had a tough choice between this and the Esee 5. I live in the desert where there is very hard wood and work in an urban area where prying may be more likely. These are the main reasons I was looking at the 5. However, with the Esee warranty, I figured if I *HAD* to pry, this blade could likely do what the 5 does, albeit with some damage. I'd then return it.I'm very glad I went with this blade. After doing some work with it, the blade is very tough and can take a beating. The grind is much more suited for bushcraft. Having a .25" stock blade, I can easily tell how much better the 6 would be in any situation except prying. Even when prying, it would seem to be OK as the heat treat errs on the side of bending rather than breaking. The edge geometry makes this light and fast for its size, simply a perfect balance of various factors in this knife. There is a lot to say for this blade and I feel it's the perfect mid-sized knife. If you want "one tool" to keep on you in case things go sideways, this is it. I'm sure you can use this to smash through glass or cut a door. The blade might get damaged, but you can touch it up, smash it back in place and go terminator until the smoke clears and you turn it in for warranty work.

My all time favorite survival knife
I love this knife, its perfect for me as a survival knife. It cuts great, easy to sharpen, it has a coating to prevent rust, full tang handle that fits my hand very well, finger choil and gimping on the top to rest my thumb that makes being able to make feather sticks very easy oh yeah dont forget the lifetime warranty

Best knife I've ever owned
Best knife I've ever owned....arguably one of the most expensive, but so far it's proved worth it. Keeps an edge, great weight and balance and has yet to do anything but excel at every task I've put it to -- I love this knife!
