Doctor Strange by Mark Waid Vol. 1: Across The Universe (Doctor Strange (2018-2019))

This is an amazing collection. You'll be hooked to the stories as Strange tries to regain his power and magic. The action is rapid and you'll fly through this awesome volume.

This is a lot like the 2015-2018 Empirikul storyline in that all magic has disappeared and Stephen must find it again. This story involves space travel, though.

I confess, I did not know what to expect with this relaunch of the series, but Waid does not disappoint. Stephen Strange loses his connection to magic and (on the advice of Tony Stark) goes into outer space in hoping to reestablish his bond to magic. Strange succeeds in his mission but transforms himself into a new type of mage. He’s a bit brash but is tempered by the sage advice and tutelage of a new ancient one. The story is engaging, and Waid does a good job developing Strange’s character. Finally, the book ends on cliffhanger, when [SPOILER ALERT] it is revealed that the Stephen Strange we have been following might not be the real Doctor Strange. I can’t wait for volume two.A further note, do be cautious in ordering this from Amazon. My copy arrived in an oversized mailer and with numerous bruises and bends.

I tend to spend a fair amount of time cruising between comic book titles, looking for ones that are well-written enough, compelling enough for me to pursue and invest in. Most don't make the cut. This volume has.The art is solid, but not inspiring (I almost gave the book four stars based on this, but decided not to be churlish). The basic story is solid and interesting. But the writing... the writing here is first rate, and make this volume a joy to read.Well worth your time, I'm looking forward to continuing this series.

Art work saves it. Completely uninvolving story. And can we stop with the "Doctor Strange looses his powers/is no longer Sorcerer Supreme" storylines? It's been done into the dirt. Not to forget not only just done by the previous writer, done much better. Twisting the location into outer space had potential, just wasted.

This story takes Dr. Strange to the stars. A magician in space. But it is a bit cumbersome at first but it straightened out quick. Art is on point and lovely

Loved it from the very Beginning, his sword should be really emblematic. Trust me read this book completely recommended it.
