Between Sisters: A Novel (Random House Reader's Circle)

Loved the book. A real tear jerker.

This is one of Kristin Hannah's early books and it's easy to see how much her writing has advanced since publishing this book in 2003. She threw in characters that took a while to figure out who they were and why they were there. However, all that aside, this is a gripping and emotional story of two sisters who faced traumatic circumstances in their young lives and came through, albeit not without scars. Meghann Dontess is a successful divorce attorney who has earned the nickname of The Ice Queen. She is brutal when representing her clients. But she's haunted by a past she can't escape. Even after twenty years of therapy, she can't let go. She is flawed, riddled with guilt, and determined to keep it all under the wraps of a confident business woman. Her only release is picking up a strange man to spend a few minutes of intimacy with, only as long as it never involves feelings. Claire is Meghann's younger sister, the one she'd been responsible for, the one she abandoned. This story unfolds in a gripping way as the two sisters dance around their relationship, their past and an uncertain future. Is Meghann the lucky one because she's been able to find monetary success, or is Claire the lucky one because she's found family? It's hard to say. They each have their scars. So what can bring them together to return to the deep love they truly have for each other? What happens is heartbreaking and I shed more than a few tears. If you love a gripping family saga with so many characters interwoven, you will definitely want to read this book!

I really enjoyed this story of sistery love. This book like all the books by Kristin that I have read are of the most wonderful stories. I now live in Georgia and enjoy reading about the different places I remember from when we lived in Washington state. It was a great love story for me. Love,togetherness, hope and sharing A huge part of life. Thank you

Family is everything - the sisters taught us well - we can all come back from low points and hardships - so many lessons told with love

I very much enjoyed the characters of the interplay between the sisters and ultimately the lovely outcome, even though it was perhaps a bit predictable. It was an easy and enjoyable read perfect for the beach.

I could see myself in a number of characters . Each one was was well-defined almost to the point of being a Caricature of a personality trait: too sweet and good, too obsessive and bitchy, etc. But the story draws the reader in and keeps you Turning the pages. Predictably everyone finds true love and learns the important life lesson of learning to express it.

I really enjoy Kristin Hannah’s books because they are so detailed. This book fell short when the backdrop is in such a small town yet Joe and Meghan don’t know each other? Or know about each other?

Once you get into this book, you don’t want to put it down. It highlights family values& love. All characters are believable & real sounding people. Forgiveness and hope are highlighted well. It is a good read all around.

After starting to read this book, I realized I had read it many years ago. There is some romance & lots of tears but a happy ending. It was a very good book.

This is a beautiful read. I never had a sister so it was even more special to read about love, loss, fears, emotions on a sisterly level. Great read, difficult to put down.

Another great book by Kristin Hannah. Once i started reading it i could not put it down. The story is realistic, characters that you can relate to, it simply draws you in. I have read quite a few books by this author and loved them all. Kristin Hannah is a truly gifted author
