Maytag MVWB865GW 5.2 Cu. Ft. White Top Load Washer

We purchased this washer because of the large capacity, and we wanted a top-loader with an agitator. We have tried washing clothes on “normal”, “power wash”, “bedding”, and even “clean washer”. Except for the “normal” setting, each load was set to “deep fill”. The most water we could get the machine to use came to about 4.5-5 inches of water. We filled each load to the top with clothes or bedding hoping the machine would get beyond 5” of water.The agitator worked fine, but didn’t do anything to the items in the washer except rub against them, The items in the washer didn’t move at all, so the agitator was useless and over time would probably cause harm and excessive wear and tear to anything inside the washer it twists against. We even placed a dry sock on the top of the cloths, that stayed on top and in the same position, for the entire wash cycle, never once touching water.Even though the washer has a huge capacity, I would recommend only a hand full of items if you hope to have your items washed in water.Luckily, we can return this washer and find another that uses water and an agitator that actual does what an agitator is supposed too rather than this washer that has an agitator with no purpose but to rub against clothes without water.

It worked great for 5 months! Now our Maytag top load Model MVWB865GW has multiple problems. It won't dispense hot water and shows LF on the display. The hoses and water lines are fine. It started the drain cycle this morning with the lid OPEN and the power button was OFF and unattended! It continually drips/streams water from the soap tray after the load has completed and the power button is OFF! Since it won't dispense HOT water (because of the LF error) I tried a cycle using COLD only. Sometime after the wash cycle, it started to dispense HOT water even though I selected COLD on the panel! I have to re-emphasize this, it started a drain cycle this morning with the lid OPEN and the power button was OFF and it was unattended!!

Unacceptable performance—it does not clean my clothes. To test the operation of the washer, I conspicuously placed a white towel on top of the load of laundry before beginning the cycle. The same white towel was in the same location at the end of the cycle—it barely even moved. The washer failed to mix the clothes which is required for a complete cleaning. (When you stain treat clothes, rubbing is required!) Dampening clothes and having them sit on top of a pool of water does not clean clothes. I tried multiple different settings including “deep fill” and “deep clean,” but nothing mixes the clothes for a proper cleaning.

It doesn't use enough water, some pieces never get wet at all. If you try to add more it will stop, drain without spinning, and SHUT OFF. If you leave the lid open for more than 10 minutes, it will drain without spinning, and SHUT OFF!.It is a horrible machine with a worthless warranty. Maytag and every washing machine except one is owned by WHIRLPOOL and has the same worthless warranty. This goes for dishwashers, stoves almost every major appliance there is. Please run, don't walk away from this washer.

Computer died on me after two years. Not covered by the warranty.... So upset!! The cost to fix could have bought a new washer. I thought maytag was supposed to have quality products but this washer has been awful!!

Consumer Reprts rates it a 65 in September 2018. It is too of their list of top loading agitation models. Speedqueen used to be tops but the 2018 is getting poor reviews

We bought this machine in December 2020 and ever since then it has been an exercise in total frustration.No matter what size load we place in the washer, the water level does not fill adequately leaving the clothes modestly damp/partly dry and detergent not uniformly distributed throughout the load. The agitator then starts and the drum starts struggling with the damp load making a grinding and clicking sound. which results in the machine constantly slowing down, becoming unbalanced, and eventually stopping 5-10 mins into the cycle. Thats when you get the error message above to remove the load and restart the cycle. UGH!!!This scenario can occur numerous times on the same load (again, no matter how few of items are loaded) forcing you to remove damp clothes more soaked in detergent and bleach, than water, and try again. We have never had such a frustrating experience and just want to get rid of the machine. Simply put, we just wanted a large capacity washer with agitator to wash our clothes but this machine will not function despite every effort to "deep fill", "add extra water", pre-soak, etc.In summary, this machine is horrible. We have reported the issue to Maytag only to be told that a tech will come out to inspect (and charge us $129). UNREAL. We have never had with issues any of our previous washers and so advising everyone to avoid this machine and Maytag brand as poor quality and customer service.

Worse machine ever. Does not rinse the clothes. You get 4 inches of water for the rinse cycle with a full load of clothes. And if you fill the washer with clothes and set on deep fill there were clothes bone dry when washer was done. Total junk.
