Great shovel - price has sky rocketed!!!
I last bought this shovel in Dec 2012 here at Amazon. It has been a great shovel - slices thru ice/build up great and makes general snow shoveling a breeze. The end grip and handle are perfect shape/length/weight for ergonomic snow work. The shovel itself is very light weight and that helps with heavy snow falls. The end blade is a work horse and has held up well with heavy duty Michigan winters that last 4-5 months. We have come back to get another one and the only reason we hesitate to buy is the price has gone from $39 to almost $70!!!! Wow - that's an increase. I will keep watching and hope the price comes down as it's a great product - but that kind of price escalation makes me check to see if any other similar product out there for less.

This actally makes shoveling snow a pleasure!
This is so superior to the old time aluminum shovels or yore! AM 70 yr old female and not all that strong, but this winter had to deal with 9" of snow on the driveway and deck. This made the job very easy. LIGHTWEIGHT! What a difference; the shovel itself is 20" wide so takes a big bite out of the snow. The front edge has a blade on it so was very easy to scrape the ice away too. Great ergonomic design, a very pleasant surprise.

Great shovel but too flexible for extreme users, steel wear strip -- not nylon
As someone who often breaks tools, including one snow shovel for each of the past two winters, I was eager to try a polycarbonate snow shovel. As a part-time inventor, I frequently have used polycarbonate in various mechanical contraptions. As readers may already know, polycarbonate is used in certain types of bullet-proof glass and is relatively inexpensive. That being said, this shovel is well made but the polycarbonate blade is too flexible for my tastes. This is the second shovel purchased during '13-'14 winter. The first was a 48" wide snow pusher by JM enterprises. This works great but is too wide for walkways. So when my standard width shovel broke, I was happy to find the Suncast model available online, even though I was concerned about the [non-existent] nylon wear strip. When opening the box, I was happy to see a heavy-duty,sharp steel wear strip. The sharpness of the steel wear strip really allows the shovel to dig into ice and snow compressed underneath tire tracks. Yet, the rigidity of the wear strip reveals the flexibility of the polycarbonate blade. This may prevent the blade from failing but the provides a mushy feel when aggressively digging through denser material. For some light-duty users, this compliance may be insignificant. If you are a stronger guy who really likes to tear snow removal jobs quickly, it could be an irritation.

Snapped the second time it was used
Functioned very well for clearing 1 inch of powder on the first use. However, Upon second use, clearing1.5"-2" of snow/ice mix shovelhead snapped at attachment point to shaft when scrapping.

This is the Best snow shovel, bar none!
Gets to the bottom of the snow easily, the snow doesn't stick when you throw it, and the sides help it hold lots of snow. It is very light but very sturdy construction. I was given one as a present 2 years ago and immediately asked where they got it so I could get another one. The store was sold out and I couldn't find it anywhere. I never thought of looking on Amazon for it, but when I finally did, there it was and I bought 3 of them for family and friends who asked where they could get one. Everyone who uses it asks where they can get one and I just say one word, "Amazon". This is the best snow shovel I've ever used and the only one I'll ever use from here on forward.

Suncast rip off
This shovel is very light and is easy to work with for hours...just as long as it's on a non-abrasive surface like Trex decking. All consumers should be aware that Suncast does not sell or provide consumbers/merchants with replacement wearstrips. Once the wearstrip is worn away the polycarbonate is subject to cracking and quicker wear. I got 4 hours of shoveling on my concrete driveway before the wearstrip was useless. If you want to spend a bunch of your hard earned money on a shovel you can only use a few times then this Suncast product is for you.

BEST SHOVEL DESIGN
This is my second Suncast shovel of this model (Power-Blade). I have used this shovel for 5 years and it is simply the best at pushing and shoveling snow that I've found. It has a nylon wear scraper edge that won't damage porches or decorative pavers. It glides over concrete surfaces, not grabbing and stopping the way the steel edge types do. The only reason I had to purchase another is the wife found out how nice it works! As some reviewers have stated it is NOT for chipping ice or breaking through the salt pack snow-ice that the plow leaves at the base of the driveway (heavy steel only for these tasks). Pick up a can of Snow-Jet spray (keeps snow from sticking) available at AMAZON and you will be in shoveling nirvana (or as much as you can be anyway)!

Best snow shovel I've ever owned.
Probably the best snow shovel I've ever owned. It's not so great that you can use it to chisel ice off the road though. The first time you use it you will love it. So light and so easy to maneuver as well. Highly recommend. Just purchased 3 more for the business and a neighbor. If there was a down side, it would be that the wear strip will wear out after several years of shoveling on cement and asphalt. Duh : o )

Lasts only one season
I've had this shovel for only a couple of months and in that time we have had regular snow plus 5 snowstorms already. This shovel works as a pusher and a scoop. The scoop is big enough to move a lot of snow but not so large that each scoop is a back-breaker. The non-metal wear strip is holding up well after repeated use on my concrete sidewalk and driveway and best of all it doesn't catch on every little bump like the metal wear strips do. An added bonus - it doesn't scratch or gouge my Trex deck. The materials are lightweight on their own and the design is very easy to handle. Shoveling is a much easier chore with this unit.Updating my review. After using this shovel for some time, I must report that the wear strip lasts only one season. It chips off in pieces so the snow is not cleared uniformly and you have to go over the shoveled area multiple times to clean right down to the deck/sidewalk. Very disappointing considering the price. I've gone back to buying less-expensive shovels, especially since there are now a couple of brands that are made in Canada and very well-designed. They last longer and are a fraction of the price.
