Logo version of Mastermind game
When I was a kid, I had a very similar game called Mastermind. This is a good toy to teach logic and deduction skills. It's fun to put the game together but for actually playing, we find it easier for each person to put their chest much closer to their body, not hooked together as one big board. Adults sized fingers may have difficulty manipulating the little gems in the tight spaces, but that's to be expected from a Lego product in general. The box it comes in is nice, much more sturdy than the average game box. Younger kids will probably need some help playing/understanding this, at least at first.

Surprisingly good fun!
I'm so surprised at how popular this game was with my 5 and 7 year-old nephews. They loved putting it together, and then the game itself was really fun to play. It's kind of like a little kids "Battleship", where you're trying to guess the other person's secret color code. Super fun, and we played it every morning while waiting for their parents to get going.I wound up gluing the hinge of the little treasure chests, becuase the boys would pull off the lid every time they opened up to look. Other than that, it was a pretty sturdy game.

Get Mastermind, pass on this.
This toy is just like the game "Mastermind." Althought this is a great concept, it FALLS apart. It has small Lego pieces and everytime you put in a GEM to guess a color, it breaks. When you move your gem pieces around it pulls the small lego pieces off. After playing twice, I started to superglue the pieces together so it wouldn't pull apart. Our family just holds the pirate chests, and then guess the colors. It isn't what we expected for a game. The only positive is that the game was easy and fun to build.I would suggest getting the game of Mastermind instead, and buy a lego set to build. You will be much happier.

Frustrating game!
Like others, we too found the game frustratingly small and fragile. the directions that come with it are almost impossible to figure out. We had to go on-line to watch the video version of the directions. That helped but the game was still very fragile and small. They should have made it with larger Legos. Better yet, I wish it weren't made with Legos at all!!I think this kind of defeats the purpose of Legos. I suspect my kids will just end up using all the pieces for free play instead of playing the game.

The parts are very small and hard to deal with. The game won't stay together when you are playing. If the parts were bigger it would be more fun.

Kind of like Lego 'Mastermind'
For anyone who remembers the game 'Mastermind' this is very similar -- each person comes up with a unique 'code' (i.e. sequence of 4 colored studs) which you conceal in your pirate treasure chest. Then everyone takes turns trying to guess each other's codes. My 9 year old likes it and really had fun getting to 'build' the game out of legos. He loves that you hide your code in a treasure chest. It is a cute twist on mastermind. The lego pieces are of course very durable. The design is a little faulty -- it is a hard to keep your 'code' hidden with the treasure chests joined to the board -- we found it easier to detach the chest, that way you could bring them up close to you and do a better job of keeping your 'code' hidden.Overall, I would definitely get it for any child who loves legos and games. Its not really challenging enough for adults.

Need more games like it
I bought this game for my five year old son. Having taken formal logic classes in college I saw this game and HAD to get it. Logic is an art that is, in my opinion, neglected nowadays. While this game is reliant on a good bit of luck, the player who has stronger deductive reasoning skills tends to be the winner. My five year old has a little trouble reasoning out some of the moves but clearly understands how to play the game. Every time we play his logic skills seem to get stronger and he is beginning to understand how to manipulate the colors to crack the codes. Definitely a great game for families.

Great Lego Game
I hesitated to buy this thinking it would not be that fun to play with my students. Boy was I glad I purchased it. My students love it. It combines the fun of a Lego game with the skillful play of Mastermind. Cute features (skeleton, treasure chests, etc.).

great quality for a second hand product
This product came in amazing quality, with all the pieces. Bought as a gift, this product was worth not buying the new version, as was stated by the seller it was of good quality and well looked after.
