Original Military Surplus Chinese Type 56 Chest Rig AK 47 Pouch Ammo Mag Bandolier

UPDATE: I filled a 5gal bucket with just enough water to submerge the the chest rig, added 2 cups of distilled white vinegar-let it soak overnight, rinsed it off with water and Bingo! The mold/mildew smell is completely gone.As stated by several other reviewers, mine also arrived smelling of stale mold/mildew from less than perfect storage. The rear panel was actually faintly covered with a whiteish mold or mildew...and it reeked.BUT- I’ve since scrubbed it down with 91% Isopropyl Alcohol (at least 3x so far), all visible mildew/mold has been removed and the stench has been greatly reduced.Holds 3 Well G-74 GBBR CO2 AIRSOFT mags with ease, the 3 main pouches are just loose enough to allow the quick retrieval of the mag once the wooden toggle clasp has been released. The 4 smaller accessory pouches can be used for whatever.. the outermost pouch on the wearer’s left has a completely rubberized interior and the outermost pocket on the right side has a tiny pouch within it that is bound with an elastic band.. I’m very curious as to their original purposes (both are pictured).As can be seen in the pics, a good portion of the stitching is single row and not very precise.. it has been doubled in some areas: toggle straps, loops and the edges of each pouch.I can’t speak to its long term longevity as I’ve only just received it. The fabric seems to be a durable canvas. I expect it to exceed my needs/uses and if it does start to have issues, the construction is simple enough that repair would be fairly easy.For a grand total of only $25.00, ITS UNBEATABLE.

It's genuine Chinese milsurp that's been in a warehouse for decades. Expect it to smell like it's been in a warehouse for decades. Overall it's exactly what I bought though, a simple rig for AK mags. Great for airsoft or whatever. The durability seems solid and the value for money at $20 is great, it blows all the modern commercial airsoft gear away. To get better you'll have to buy some real gear from Tactical Tailor or AWS

Overall quality is pretty great. The canvas feels almost as durable as modern codura. All seams are double stitched. You can tell one of the small pouches was repaired, though, it was done nicely. Price is great. The bad part is that the entire backside was covered in some type of white mold. I've read other reviews that also had this problem. Kinda scary with all the virus stuff going around. Will be soaking this thing overnight before wearing it.

The reason why I ordered this product is because I am currently working on a Soviet Afghan War M88 Uniform because I am a reenactor and this is a big part of the uniform. The chest rig has a very good, durable material, and in general canvas is a very good and durable material. I saw some reviews saying that it had a very strong odor and that it had mildew, after reading all that I was worried, but when I received it there was no mildew nor a strong odor, the only odor was a storage odor which does not at all bother me. I really like the fact that this is original and not a repro because as a reenactor, I like getting original items. I can tell this is an original item because of the fainted markings on the back of the chest rig. I would definitely recommend this product to any reenactors who are as well doing a Soviet Afghan War impression or anybody who would just like to have this. So far, I have not had any problems with this product and I expect it to be very durable and strong.

If you own an AK Or AR and are looking for a cheap ( in price only) chest rig, this is it. Old school style and fits great. I am 6’02, 285 lbs. and it fits me just fine. I did modify the tie straps on the back with a quick release buckle and nylon strapping. used a seem puller to remove the old tie straps and replaced it with a modern 1 inch OD green nylon strap. (The wife helped out with her sewing machine). The shoulder straps were left in place, but I added1 inch slide adjusters for easier use. It’s an easy system to modify or just leave plain Jane. Plenty of you tube vids if you want to modify your rig. Liked it so much I order another and added the quick release buckle to that one also. Fits AK and AR mags perfectly!!! Nice heavy duty canvass. Should last for many years.

As of 2023 this seller is no longer selling genuine Original Type 56 Chest Rigs, but poorly made, improperly marked and dyed reproductions. You can find originals for cheaper elsewhere, or reproductions for cheaper straight from China.DO NOT BUY.

This is an awesome bug out vest. Durable, simple, and quick to put on and take off. I got this in 2 days so no way did it come direct from China but it does have what appear to be authentic Chinese writing on it and appears to be mil spec as far as I can tell.

Looks like unissued condition, thick canvas good stitching. Mine did not have any mold on it as some people have. It of course did have that foul bug deterrent smell, two cycles with ammonia and it was mostly gone.
