The last one lasted 2.5 years but my tub gets used by 5 people and I kept it set to around 4. My OEM cell cost over three times as much and lasted 3 years. I’m also convinced the scepter puts out more chlorine at same setting. Get a Scepter. Watkins should be embarrassed by how they gouge their customers for an inferior product. It’s enough to make me certain I’ll never get another Hot Springs Spa should this one need replacing. **Q: I have a 2016 envoy and using chlorine. how do i know if this unit has an ace system, and if not is it possible to still convert to salt?** A: I thought that all Envoy came with the ace system. Did you by the spa new or used? If you bought it used then the old owner might have removed the Ace System when they learned how expensive it was to replace. In either case you should be able to just re-hook up the Scepter right up and after replacing the water to the “ace” salt standards. You should be good **Q: Is the sceptor more corrosive than watkins brand and will i be sble to use my computer on my settings for usage.** A: The cell itself is not corrosive. This cell is easier to maintain because you can see the plates and clean scale when it becomes visible. The control system will work just like using the original but you may need to lower output level as many customers comment on the Scepter producing better. **Q: The wires for the new cell has one and two on the wires. Which goes to the red and which goes to the black wires to the hot tub??** A: As others have said, wire color doesn't matter. I found that for my 2018 Hotsprings Prodigy the voltage from the ACE controller is automatically reversed (from the last time) each time the cell is energized. You can verify this by putting a voltmeter on the connections and observing the 12 volt DC polarity. If you increase the output to 10 it will energize the cell more frequently and you should see it reverse the voltage if your tub is capable of that.
