If your reading this then your probably a huge fan of the music from this holiday classic like me. As a recent fan of 5.1 surround I wanted to see how this album would respond. A different take on the music I've heard for years. I wondered how they would utilize the 5.1 arrangement. Given there's only about 3 instruments aside from vocals I think this would create a minimal surround experience. Also, the quality would be poor given the age of the master recordings.After listening I was a bit surprised by the surround choices. The drums seem to take full advantage of the 5.1 speaker arrangement with the piano in stereo and bass in center. I thought there would be more separation in piano. But this is probably due to the limited original recording.Also, I noticed very little in the surround sound mixes. I was expecting a mix of heavy reverb and echoes to having no effects.I was impressed by the packaging. There's some nice interviews on how to set up your surround sound system (For those who don't know) and how they went about remixing the album. Clearly this was a very personal project from Monster Music.Overall I think this album is for those who truly love the music of Charlie Brown Christmas and might be interested in a different listening experience.As a footnote there has been some discussions about this album containing different song versions from the original TV special. I noticed some minor differences in Linus and Lucy jazz sections but it's very minimal. Possibly a different take. The others seem to be correct. But really ... only the audiophiles would notice a difference. Most of us are too drunk on egg nog to care! Merry Christmas!

I love this album. I love this surround version of the original 3-track audio master even more! The disc allows the listener to enjoy the original music in a hall setting or a jazz club setting. Vince Guaraldi's arrangements added so much to the original Charlie Brown Christmas special in 1965. Now, in crystal-clear surround, you are placed amongst the music makers and hear these familiar tunes like you've never heard them before. The voices, the cymbals, the piano.....and more! A treasure that never gets old.

I was disappointed with the regular CD release cause the bass was so powerful you had to adjust your settings. This timeless album deserved a great release and got not one but 3 different mixes (jazz or theater surround & stereo) depending on your mood. It makes you feel like you are in the room while they lay down the tracks.

'm really quite pleased with this SuperDisc release. The surround sound is fantastic with three different versions of sound you can listen to in either Dolby Digital or DTS. While the extra cd soundtrack isn't the "remastered" edition, it definitely has a much enhanced stereo sound compared to the original late 90's Fantasy release (in which I compared both). I'm extremely happy with this purchase and suggest any fan of this music to get it.
