Fitted perfectly

We’ve fitted loads of wooden skirting boards over the years & hoped using these would be quicker. Turns out they’re too much of a faff to use. Why ? There are two flanges on either corner that don’t sit properly on the manufacturing baffles in the skirting board. Have to cut two off to get the corner level with top of skirting. One side is solid which is fine for glueing, the other is hollow which means painstakingly putting glue around thin edges, inevitably it gets everywhere except where it’s needed. While the adhesive sets, we had to use shims to hold the corners up because they don’t have the gasket (as advertised) that the skirting board comes with. (Skirting, even when compressed onto its gasket strip, works out at least 155mm high, so you’ll always have a gap at the bottom because these are 150mm high (BTW the gasket doesn’t come off the skirting, you’d have to cut it off !)). So, now you have 3 pieces of material to deal with on each corner instead of just 2 if you’d mitred it. (We did actually have to mitre one corner (because the external was too close to an internal to get one of these in with a piece of board). Even glueing together 2 pieces of hollow skirting it was quicker, easier, with a neater end result. At nearly £5 each for these, plus delivery, let’s say an expensive lesson has been learned.
