The Institutes of the Christian Religion

A treasure trove of seminal Christian thought. Specifically regarding the one-volume 1541 edition translated by Robert White, though lacking the full detail of longer later editions, in many ways the relative concision is a strength. I've been reading and discussing this book chapter-by-chapter with a group for the last several months, and it has been wonderful. Very wise, and very relevant, and very accessible despite being 500+ ys old. The translators, editors, and publishers have done a great job removing any reason for anyone to not read and benefit from this classic.

One of the greatest books I have ever read. I learned a lot. Before someone wants to criticize John Calvin you should first read this. You may change your mind. Not super easy reading but not super difficult. Stick with it for a great reward.

This book is not as daunting as people make it out to be. Just a little every day is perfect to ponder and reflect. Highly recommend.

I was surprised that it was so readable. I enjoy reading and learning from it. I recommend it for anyone. Don't be intimidated by its size. Also even if you are not a Calvinists there is a great wealth of sounds teaching you can learn from too!

The book contains a lot of good information, which is relevant to today's church. This is my first book written by John Calvin. And I am grateful to have it. I am happy that this appears to be a major portion of his work as it is 600 pages.I did not take into account the poor packing job that was done. For some reason the book seems to be in very good condition. Somebody threw the book in a box with 167ft of steel cable and no protection. Amazingly it was undamaged.

Translator/Editor Robert White is superb in his choice of words. If you can choose which translation for your own reading, get this one. You won't be disappointed.

The Institutes of the Christian Religion was written by John Calvin, the junior reformer after Martin Luther. Calvin was an Augustinian monk and believed the central teachings in the Bible such as Justification and all issues regarding Christianity including the Reformation. Christianity nowadays is losing the right path of salvation because of theological incompatibility and rottenness by the ambiguous preachers and heresies who are twisting God's Word in their pulpit during Sunday worship. It's about time to go back to Reformation because we must go back to the inerrant and sufficiency of the Word of God.

Institute of christian religion by John Cavin translated by elsie Anne Mckee is very easy to understand.I pocess a prevous translation which is difficult to understand.I purchased a downlable Kindle format which is very convenient as i can carry the 'book' anywhere in my mobile.I am fully satisfied and read the book from my mobile, i can read the book anywhere as long as i carry my moblie.A bit costly but if you are a presyterian church member and intersted in the witings of John Calvin, this is a translated version which you should buy.The language is modern and easy to understand.i fully recommended the book

This book is an authentic copy from the original that was written in 1541 INSTITUTES. really happy to have this and enjoying it from the first chapter.

Great comprehensive plenary work of Christian fundamentals. John Calvin was a superior thinker and deliverer of truth. Rather long with heavy concepts but worth the effort. Good comfortable translation by White. Recommend.
