Great set of glass containers at a very competitive price. Never going back to plastic.
I purchased a first batch of these glass containers in January as I meal prep my food each week (and take my lunch to work) and was in need of some new food storage containers of the SAME size (I didn't need a variety pack). I also wanted to avoid microwaving my meals in plastic for a variety of reasons. I liked them so much I bought a 2nd batch and now have 16 of them for my weekly food prep.[There is a growing body of scientific evidence that is showing that exposure to plastics over a long period of time may be harmful. Plastics release chemicals into our food, and more so when heated. What constitutes as toxic or harmful is inconclusive; however, while there is obviously no scientific consensus that "MICROWAVING PLASTIC = CANCER," it's my personal OPINION that food exposure to plastic (esp when microwaving) would likely lead to some sort of measurable ill-effect, even if it's 50 years down the road. We already know that BPA and Phthalates are endocrine disruptors.]I was pleasantly surprised. These containers are fantastic.Pros:-It's glass, so the likelyhood of any kind of toxicity is almost 0. In my opinion, while more expensive than plastic, it's a better option for your health.-Price: these are very well priced for a set of 8 containers-Because it's a truly non-porous material, it doesn't retain smells of previously held foods-Glass is easier to clean than plastic.-Because it's borosilicate glass, it's safe to put in the freezer or oven (lid is not oven safe). Also, when putting into the freezer, the container is air-tight, so no additional moisture/ice is getting into your food.-It's leak-proof, so you can carry your soup around worry-free. Additionally, the lid is more secure than even traditional plastic containers due to the 4 locking tabs.-The silicon seal is removable from the plastic lid, so you can take it out, clean it, and put it back in.-Durability: Assuming it doesn't chip or break, borosilicate can last for decades. Plastic containers usually get stinky, deform in dishwasher from heat, etc after a few years. I've gone through many sets of plastic food containers.-They are still stackable for storage; I store the glass containers on top of each other, and then lids stacked, as well.-Everyone's needs vary, but this was pretty much the perfect size for me for my meal sizes. I'm glad I didn't go any smaller than the 30 oz, and any bigger I would have wasted space. However, they also offer a set of (5) 36 oz containers if you need a bigger size or tend to have meals with more volume.Cons:-Compared to other glass containers, none that I'm aware of, though these are my only set. I feel like these are pretty great quality and haven't had any issues to date other than a minor chip on the bottom part of one of the lids (hasn't affected seal since it's on the bottom, not top).-While they are stackable, they don't nest into each other like other plastic containers: they nest within the inner lip of the top of the container. As a result they do take up more space than plastic containers when not in use.-Compared to plastic, it's obviously easier to break.Overall, these have been a great product at a good price, well made, and a superior alternative to plastic containers.

Perfect size for portion storage and re-serve!
I guess you could go buy a bunch of plastic containers. I am sure they work (never have had so I may be missing something) and I suspect you can get some that look fine.To compare with these Bayco Meal Prep containers they will have to:- Be a perfect serving size- Be 100% leak proof, always, all the time, without fail, a lot, etc.- Be see-through so you instantly know what is in each one- Be easy to clean (I machine wash the containers – hand wash the lids)- Stack perfectly even when partially filled- Not leak, ever (Did I already mention that?)- Look great- Be easy to store (I just stack em up on top of each other)- Go straight from fridge/freezer to microwave or oven- Allow you to cook in them, serve from them and store in them (Ok – I admit I have eaten from them as well – don’t judge me)- Lack any propensity to leak, drip or spill (you may notice that is important to me)If I had a big family, I might go with some of the larger Bayco sizes. Living alone (when I can get my daughter and son-in-law out of the house…) the 30oz containers are just perfect for me.I have not had the problems some reviewers have had with the seals leaking or coming out. Maybe I am lucky, but I would note I follow the directions and that might help. (Don’t put them away for long term storage with lids sealed in place – don’t machine wash the lids).

Better than plastic
A lot of my plastic containers began to make my food taste really synthetic so I switched to glass; these are all the same size and fit nicely in the kitchen without making me do some weird organization. They are a good size and a good quality. My only complaints are:When cleaning, it can sometimes be a pain to clean the white rubber part that seals the lid when you are clipping it on. I have had to take this out before to rinse it completely after some juice got stuck in it, and then it's such a pain to stick back in. Others might not have had this experience, maybe it was user error? It's also a little difficult to get it to clip completely closed. I feel like I have to fight to get the fourth tab to clip, no matter what order I close it in. It's not the end of the world, but if you have sensitivity or weakness in your hands, it can be difficult to get the tabs to latch shut since. But, it keeps my food fresh and doesn't seem to spill, so it does its job.

Great storage containers, with one concern...
I prefer glass over plastic for food storage for a few reasons: glass doesn't absorb food odors or stains, it's no problem in the dishwasher, and you can reheat safely in the microwave. The lids are listed as BPA free on the package. Be advised, the lids are noted to be hand wash only, not dishwasher safe. I knew that before I bought them, so I have no issue there. The price was good on these, and the lids do a great job of sealing. My only concern is the glass itself. I suspect this glass may be more susceptible to breakage than say, Pyrex products. I don't know if the glass is tempered or not. Short of trying to break one, I don't suppose I'll ever know for sure. But, looking at the glass, I can see what may be slight imperfections. It's not a deal breaker, by any means, but I try to be a bit more careful with these, say not letting them knock into each other. I also won't add really hot or really cold items to them, just to avoid any potential issues from thermal shock. My only real complaint is that the containers don't nest together. Yes, you can stack them, with or without the lids, but they don't rest inside each other. So if you're looking to save space, you may want to check out another container.Still, for the money, these do what I want, and I'm pleased with the product.

Very well made
I like how well these are made. I threw out all of my plastic containers due to cancer causing agents when in the microwave, and have never regretted it. The lids can we washed in the top of the dishwasher and the glass to the bottom portion is very thick. I have dropped them a few times and they are perfectly fine. I Highly recommend this product.
