A great reference book for any sewist !!!!

101 SEWING SEAMS - This is in no way intended as a criticism and Possibly my expectations may seem unrealistic to those who are competent Sewing experts, but although the book is well produced and illustrations excellent, I had expected more dialogue - more of an explanation.For those who are competent at all things Sewing I am sure the diagrams are sufficient, but for a beginner like me it was a disappointment. It Might be an idea to produce a DVD for purchase to accompany the book. - Just a suggestion from one who learns more by being shown.

This book would be absolutely spectacular if it was using the ISO standards. I was looking at the codes for the seams, thinking (that doesn’t look familiar). The codes that are listed are by the ABC seams company (which I never heard of). It’s basically their own coding system. So if you gave their code to a manufacturer for a seam, the manufacturer would probably wonder what you were refering to. Only get this book if you work with manufacturers who know the ABC coding system. But most of the world uses ISO.

If ever that there was one good guide to making seams, this has to be it.With clear illustrations on various garments the recommended seam is explained in easily understood pictorial form with the appropriate sewing technique. The sewing diagrams are so easy to understand and follow.This is one reference book that will not spend to much time on a shelf but in the hands of a sewist as the next project is planned.This book will sure get you trying out seams that were only a mystery a short time before.The book is a paper back, good quality and a nice size to have next to your sewing machine as you follow the guide.It is well worth the cost and the wait for delivery.I have no regrets in my purchase of the book and without hesitation recommend it to sewists. As I feel sure that you will want to pass on the recommendation to your sewing friends.
