Works as advertised
Received the bss2 Instead. Works as advertised in my Mercedes c300. I pulled the bumper and mounted the sensors to the supplied metal brackets. Be carful with the LEDs. I pulled the wire loose on one and had to solder it back together. I’m happy with the results.

Works with limitations.
The blind spot sensors are great only when cars from behind that are moving faster than you approaches and move into your blind spot. This is helpful but limited, however, unlike the factory blind spot in mirrors that shines ANYTIME a vehicle is in the blind area, this one don't. If you are driving faster than another and pass them up, the blind spot lights does not illuminate when the passed car moves into your blind spot. Also, if you and another car is moving at the same speed from a traffic light, then the light doesn't illuminate when a car is driving in your blind spot. This light only works if a car is driving faster than you and passing you when it goes into your blind spot..This product does work as stated when reversing from a parked spot and will warn from cross traffic.I give 3 stars because it is a good product that works but with limitations. If the blind spot worked anytime a car is in your blind spot whether they are slowly passing you or you are slowly passing them or if they are driving the same speed in your blind spot, then I would give 5 stars.

Know what you're getting
This is a radar-based system, unlike the common sonar-based systems. Sonar-based systems detect the presence of an object in your blind spot, but radar-based systems detect objects moving INTO your blind spot. You get an earlier warning, but if someone moves into your blind spot and then just sits there, the warning will go away once they stop moving faster than your vehicle. This system does NOT remove the need to check your blind spots -- it just alerts you when someone is heading for a blind spot so you can keep a closer eye on them. (There do exist radar systems that do a good job of keeping track of objects following in your blind spot, but this isn't one of them.)[Updated from earlier review] The first unit I got was from a defective batch (according to Rydeen, according to my installer) and its cross-traffic detection went off continuously when the car was in reverse. Rydeen has provided my installer with a unit from a later batch, and all seems well now. A number of false alerts also went away with the new unit. With this new unit, I'm also getting an occasional alert from a car closing up from behind, not just passing. But they have to be fairly close (and getting closer) while I'm still doing at least 20 mph, so it's not like there's nothing to be concerned about. It's just a bit confusing when you think it's your blind spots but it's really the car behind you. Also, if you've got a turn signal on, that can trigger the audible alert. So, some jerk who is annoyed that you're signalling a turn rides up on your bumper instead of giving you space to slow down, and that sets off the audible alert.Side note: this system operates in the same 24 GHz band that police "K-band" speed radars operate in. Radar detectors that don't know the BSS1's "signature" may be set off by it. Well, it IS radar.

BSS1 VS Other Solutions
This is in response to other review (1 star). After understanding the system and limitations of obtaining every vehicles information for aftermarket systems, I'm glad they only detect on approach. In the scenario if you wanted the system to detect if a vehicle is going same speed or slower you will have many more notifications to answer to. Other systems because of that lack of software flaw do not understand or know the difference between a "slower vehicle" or guard rail, light pole, or even a wall, etc.Rydeen takes time to develop a product that is less or not dependent on vehicles for operation of their products. Because of GPS antenna (for speed) and software choice the BSS1 system is top notch for aftermarket integration into my vehicle.
