Breville BFS800BSS Steam Zone Food Steamer, Brushed Stainless Steel

Absolutely love this steamer! The two compartment steam baskets makes cooking dinner a snap! As in snapper fish! Very happy when a product says what it does. No fishy taste with vegetables and the herbs on the vegetables get infused. Best method I have tried for retaining the nutrients in vegetables. Great for the vegetarians in family. No worries like a traditional steamer of the water running out or water level too high and boiling. My husband wanted to hate this thing because "it's another appliance we don't have room for" but he actually likes it. Cooked shrimp and asparagus in 6 minutes and both were perfectly done. I got this after my Cuisinart STM-1000 broke after only 2 years of normal uses. Initial impression is that it has dual zone steaming. It is a very useful feature. Because of the "sync finish", I can have 2 different cooking time food to be finished at the same time. This cant be found in other steamers. The start time is noticeably quicker than the Cuisinart that i had been using. The output of the steam is also rich and constant. The size is perfect for what i needed. In fact, I can fit more with this size. I even fitted 2 round plates that i can steam with. I bought an 8" Bamboo steamer which it didn't fit comfortably. I had to force it down. I wish the top plate can be a little wider to fit it. The included 2 steam pots with covers are great for vegetables and other food. I really liked the dual zone, i can save some power by just using one side if i only want to heat/cook only a small portion. I'm very happy with my purchase.

I was so happy to have this product as we've had great luck with Breville. First, there was no hard water test kit. We called Breville and they said "send it back to Amazon!" That seemed pointless so, knowing we have hard water, we set the level at 4. It just means we have to clean it/descale more often.This evening I loaded it up with water, placed two artichokes in the steamer, turned it on and it ran about 3 minutes and went completely blank. I couldn't turn it back on so I plugged something else into the outlet to make sure it wasn't a power issue and it wasn't. Three times I was able to turn it on and have it run a couple of minutes, shut completely down and have to let it sit 5 - 7 minutes before I could turn it back on again.Am terribly disappointed . . it will be returned to Amazon tomorrow.

1. The two pans are perfect for smaller meals for one or two people. Can easily cook two large chicken breasts in one pan while steaming veggies in the other pan.2. Feature of two pans allows both foods to be cooked simultaneously, even with chicken on low steam and veggie on high steam.3. Feature of synchronized cooking means both pans will be done cooking at same time.4. Super easy to clean.5. So far very happy with this product. Have primarily made chicken and steamed vegetables.

I thought that Breville produce only quality products. But that one was really bad. When it came I turned it on with water and everything by Manual Book. BUT... it stop working after 2 minutes.I plugged it in different socket and it stop working in 1-2 minutes again. Also in that 1-2 minutes I've noticed that only one zone is working ... and another one is not. Pretty simple product should work without any issue it's as simple as kettle. But it doesn't. I wish Breville controls quality better.

I use this all the time it does well. The only problem (and it's a big one) is the fact that only one side works and it's been that way since i unboxed it. Only the left side steams but the right side never works. If you're using the pots it really matters but not as much if you're using the full steam cover because the left side can steam the whole thing pretty well in that case.

This is a fantastic steamer. Great in appearance and operation. Cooks food very well. Makes a small pulsing noise when heating up and going through its cooking cycle. Being able to cook two different foods with different timing and cooking temps ( high or Low ) and have them finish at the same time is terrific. Easy to clean. Highly recommend. Probably the worst thing you could say about this is having to fill it with water and then when finished, you have to carefully carry the base to the sink ( without spilling it ) to empty it. This Breville Steam Zone and the Breville BFP 800XL Sous Chef Food Processor are two of the best products we have bought here at Amazon. Also, the KitchenAid Pro Line Blender.

We used this for the first time last night and,, OMG, it was delicious. I love the fact that you can sync two different types of foods and have them finish at the same time. Everything was delicious. There will be a while of getting used to the setting and which times work best for our tastes and preferences, but that's to be expected. The stainless steel makes it very easy to clean up. It can't hold smells, even with fish or shrimp (which we cooked last night). The water reservoir seems to be huge and holds more than enough water for the entire cycle. I haven't tried using the whole tray as a single steamed item, but I'm looking forward to crab legs very soon. We had one of the $25 models for years, and it worked for a while and was relegated to the junk heap. It was awful to clean, and the smell was never quite gone. This is a whole different experience. And yes, you truly do "Get What You Pay For". No brainer.

Great steamer, it’s starts steaming really quick. Dual zone works great for sycronizing cook times. Comes with a tester so that you can test your water and pick the right setting to make sure the steamer lasts.

Right side steamer didn't work so returned and received the 2nd unit but exact same problem!! Very disappointed!!

Have used this several times a day for two months now.Cost:At first glance this item may look a lot more expensive than other steamers on the market but you should consider that with the Breville steamer you are actually buying two steamers in one. Both sides can be programmed separately and unlike other single steamers if one side eventually stops working you still have the other side to use.Size:This is a big unit but again its technically two steamers so you should expect twice the size. It also will hold a lot more.The removable plug sticks out a bit so I would recommend removing it if you want to push it back against a wall when storing.Operation:From what I can tell it operates by spraying the water onto the heating element which almost instantly turns it to steam. This allows for a very fast startup time and makes a very quiet chug chug sound (kind of like listening to a steam locomotive). Its also a lot quieter than our previous steamer and the sound is kind of relaxing.When cooking some items we only turn on one side of the steamer and use the main lid.Clean up:The lid and base are easy to clean. The power cord can be removed so you don't have to worry about it dropping into the sink when cleaning. Plastic material for the base and drip tray wipe clean with just a paper towel.Only niggle is the drip tray. After a full run (45 min) the water level in the tray is very close to the top. As the tray fits snugly in place working it loose without spilling the water is tricky but can be done. Secondly, there is a divider that separates the drip tray in two. So when pouring out the water you have to be careful (hence the 4 stars).After each use we use a paper towel to remove the calcium and lime scale from the steam heads. It only takes a couple of seconds and will prevent issues later.The descaling feature is simple and so far we only had to do it once. One thing to note, if it tells you it's time to descale and you ignore it it will eventually shut off and not work until you run the descale mode.Other:Make sure you insert the removable plug all the way. The fit is a bit tight and the first time I used it it came loose because I did not push it all the way in. Once I figured it out the was no problem.If you fill the steamer to the max and run it till its empty (45 min) the drip tray will be just about full. As you can eaily refill the steamer from the outside be careful not to cause the drip tray to overflow.Overall I am very happy with this steamer and would highly recommend it if you do a lot of this type of cooking. If a steamer is something you only use once in a while then I would recommend getting something cheaper.

I am impressed the way it looks & designed. The only problem is the BPA plastic they put at the bottom. I thought it is the perfect steamer thatI've dreamed of but i was wrong! For me it doesnt make any difference from the other plastic steamers out there. The boiling water that steans the food in the stainless plate and pot was boiled from a plastic base is not acceptable.The Breville messed up in this part. Theres no point of buyingstainless if it is contaminated by plastic wether bpa or not. It was like only dressed up by stainless but the steam was fumed by a plastic!I have to return mine as it is also defective. I think the breville should follow the concept of Hanex or Euro Cuisine FS2500. It is quiet bulky but guaranteed stainless from bottom to top.The plastic part is only at the outside that doesnt affect the food.
