I haven't played bridge in years and having recently retired, I wanted to get back in the game.This book, although a little slow at the beginning, it is an invaluable resource to learn about the updatedconventions and bidding. It is clear, and even a beginner can follow the instructions.I recommend this book to anyone wishing to up their bridge skills.

I'm not a novice bridge player--just rusty. Things have changed in the bidding world since Goren! This book was just what I needed to get up to speed on current practices. It will take time, of course, to remember, all the counts,, etc., but the book is clearly written, gives good examples--and multiple examples. To quiz myself, I dealt out hands and practiced bidding, checking to see if I followed Root's guidelines. A good exercise.

I bought my first copy of this book 3 decades ago. When it finally wore out, I purchased the paperback version.Bill Root (now deceased) was a great instructor. He was organized, used great examples, and was easy to follow.You can't go wrong with this book, or this supplier. And... the price is right.

This book is not up to date with current style of bidding.

This book was recommended to me by an expert bridge player. It totally enhanced my game almost immediately. Root explains situation after situation with illustrations that are easily understood. I would guess most every possible situation is covered in this book. Highly recommend.
