Ken Marschall's Art of the Titanic

We add our own foreboding
The unfortunate thing about TITANIC -- besides the disaster itself -- is that everyone knows what happened to it on its maiden voyage. The silver lining in that transatlantic cloud is that a gifted artist like Ken Marschall was drawn to the subject and produced this book (among others) that merely hint at the tragedy to come through use of atmosphercs. We marvel at his paintings and their fine detail, and add our own foreboding. In my opinion a necessary book of art for any TITANIC fan or student.

I was not disappointed! I still marvel that
I purchased this at the same time I also purchased "Titanic: An Illustrated History" mainly due to the beauty of Ken Marschall's artwork. I was not disappointed!I still marvel that, although the Titanic never survived long enough to be properly documented, in my opinion, Ken Marschall's artwork far exceeds (in accuracy and realism) any potential photos that that time period may have produced of the ill-fated ship. Together with the well-known legacy of the Titanic, the artwork is a great commemoration of the events up to and including that fateful day in April, 1912.Significant as well are the incredible paintings of the wreckage as it existed when finally discovered in 1985 - images which could not be physically taken due to water visibility and other technical limitations yet are extremely accurate being based upon the information received from the deep sea exploration in combination with Ken Marschall's intimate knowledge of what the Titanic looked like when she set sail on her maiden voyage.

Insightful. Especially for Modlers
This book is definitive and a true Standard to measure all other Art Books pertaining to the Titanic. This book has great renditions of this majestic ship that aides a model maker. Great detail has gone into these pages with numerous angles of the ship. These different views helped immensely. Also, this book is just not for a person interested in models. The intricate artwork comes to life in stunning paintings. Art, life-like in nature, this book would be great to have in anybody's collection in regards to the Titanic.

A TRUE TREASURE!
This has to be one of the most beautiful books on Titanic I have yet seen, along side 'Titanic: An Illustrated History'. The paintings are breathtaking. I am a Titanic artist as well, and these high-resolution images prove to be very helpful aids when it comes to painting and drawing my own works. If you know someone who is addicted to the lore of the story which occurred on a cold April night 101 years ago in 1912, I recommend you chose this for them. It is Out-of-Print, but well worth every penny spent upon it!

Ken Marschall's Art of the Titanic
Wow, what an amazing book, for the Titanic lover like myself this book really brings the ship to life, on some of Ken Marschall's work it shows his ideas from sketch to final painting, one of the nice things is a painting of the Titanic entering New York Harbour, an idea suggested by Walter Lord, Ken's attention to detail is staggering, even the stars are correct, although some paintings are fantasy such as the one mentioned and Titanic and Olympic passing each other off Portland, it just adds to the drams, Ken manages to make the Titanic sinking a masterpiece, she looks so graceful even in her dying moments lights blazing and boats rowing away, no one will ever really know what it must have been like, Ken manages to let you dream your way back to 1912, I would recommend this book for anyone who has seen the paintings and wants to see more, I currently have 60 books on Titanic, needless to say several have Ken's paintings, this book pretty much brings them all together with a nicely written history of the work the ideas and an excellent forward by James Cameron and the book is written by Rick Archibald, 10/10 from me

The unsinkable Ken Marschall
Stunning collection of some of Ken "Titanic" Marschall's work on not only the "unsinkable" Titanic but a handful of other ships. Two decades later this volume is still one of the best out there on Ken's work and, hopefully, some day it can be expanded for a newer addition containing his more recent artworks.
