If one is not Tech Savvy, this is difficult to use!
I'M SAD TO REPORT MY CAMERA NO LONGER WORKS. I'VE SENT SEVERAL EMAILS TO THE MANUFACTURER OF MY ROUTER AND THEIR D-LINK SUPPORT WAS FANTASTIC IN AN ATTEMPT OF ASSIST ME WITH DOWNLOADS AND UPGRADES ONLY TO DISCOVER MY CAMERA DIED. I EMAILED ALTOP AND AS OF THIS WRITING THEY HAVE NOT RESPONDED TO MY REQUEST FOR A REPLACEMENT. SHOULD YOUR CAMERA STOP FUNCTIONING, ORDER FROM ANOTHER COMPANY BECAUSE YOU WILL NOT GET ANY ASSISTANCE FROM ALTOP. I'M STUCK AND WONDERING WHICH CAMERA I WILL REPLACE THIS ONE. BUYER BEWARE.

Very nice camera especially for the price full featured and easy to install
This cam works great. Using Android OS, it was easy to install. In fact it actually installed itself. It went from screen to screen, you select the option and within minutes you are up and running. The picture quality is excellent. Everything you need to install and mount the camera is included. The night vision is insane in that you can't see any light but when you view the camera the area in front is lit up like a football field and in may case I can see the house across my street is lit up. SD card install was easy. Two screws for the waterproof compartment, the slot s basically in your face, insert card, replace cover and two screws. Done. Great design. The recording features are exceptional. You get all time record, motion detect record, and scheduled record. My camera is set for motion and records every 3 minutes also in case I need a video from out of the motion detection range I set. You can select the area for the motion detector which is great for not triggering the motion detector fo cats, squirrels, or where it might catch cars driving by.You need to go to the web site for a full set of well written and illustrated instructions. Very good instructions and easy to understand.I use windows 10, I also have an android emulator on my computer which is what I used to set up the camera. Most security cameras these days require android OS for set up. Once set up, you can use the Camera address (shown when you install the camera) in any browser and view what the camera is seeing. I was surprised. No cloud required, no pay per month, nothing. You simply enter the IP address (such as 111.222.3.44) into any browser and a page will ask for user ID (which is set by the camera but you should change and it is easy) and password (definitely change that). Enter the user name and password and you see the camera on your browser from anywhere as if it were a web site. The camera will detect you are using Windows then the camera will tell you to download the Windows app. The app will download and from that point on the camera is fully accessible from Windows. This is the first security camera I have purchased that does not require a fee to view or require you to view the camera on the company's cloud. This is important because the camera will not time you out like those do that require you to use the company's free cloud applications. To view a Dlink camera at the same house, I have to go to Dlink's web site and use their cloud system even though the camera is in the same house as the router. Many security cameras are like that.I like the white camera because it stands out and says " you are being watched". The camera is covered in a satin vinyl skin, not painted. The SD card is secured in that once properly installed, the camera cannot be ripped off the mounting bracket because it requires a special tool (included) to remove the camera from the bracket. Of course you can send the images to the cloud etc. if you wish. I like the SD card. The power cord is thin enough where you can run it from the camera under a window and close the window or you can plug it outside if you have an outlet. The cord is ten feet long. For some reason I had to reach the Alptop web site from Google search. It found the site, I clicked and everything was there. There are multiple user manuals for the camera and all are very good. When I tried to enter the provided web address in my browser I got an error code in Chinese. Don't know what't up with that but not a big deal since Google was the work around and got me to their site.I just can't think of anything negative to say about this camera and for the price it is a bargain. This camera appears to be of very high quality construction and made from high quality materials.I am going to buy a few more. The viewing part of the camera allows you to split the screen into several numbers and view all the cameras at once like a high priced security system costing over 10 times as much.I am very pleased.

Good night vision, poor wifi reception
The night vision on the camera is good, but the physical support for the camera is poor. They used allen screws to hold the camera in an adjustable position but it isn't strong enough to keep the camera from slipping to the bottom position. The field of view covers the whole yard but only two broadcast options are available 640 and 1920. The 1920 is scaled up and the gets really noisy so it is not a good option. For the price this is an usable camera but the ethernet cable connector has no cover. Setup is tricky and you have to remove a cover to insert an SD card and use the ethernet to setup the options before it can use the wifi. Android phone software is good but PC software was poor. Not made for profession situations but good coverage for a home. The wifi was working mostly but has a hard time recieving thru walls even though the router was only 15 ft away in the house. They suggest Ispy software but I found IpCamera Viewer to be a better option. Saving to the cloud can be done but only using a subscription service which defeats the low cost reason for buying it.

Stop connecting to Wifi for no reason, then ......
The cameras work well , when they work, but after a while, they stop connecting to WiFi. When I try cycling power, it has no effect, so I remove them from where they are mounted, and bring them inside and put them on Ethernet to reconfigure them, but then they work. So I bring them back outside, get on a ladder and screw them back into where they were, and they continue to work until the next time they stop working. I think that wired camera s are the best choice for home security. These are just simply not reliable. Before you think I don't know what i am doing, I have a background in electronics, and computers. I bought 5 of these, but currently have 3, this is because I send them back when they start getting erratic in operation. To fix them, all I had to do was take them inside, and put them on Ethernet, then they work, so I check the configuration and nothing has changed, so I put them back outside, and they continue to work. The picture is great when they work. They have a lot of good features when they work. I should say that when I take then down when they stop connecting, I bring them within 5 feet of the WiFi connection, and plug them in. they still fail to connect, that is when I plug Ethernet into them, that is when they start working again. That is not acceptable for security cameras.

For the price it's AMAZING!!
This thing is really incredible. We have it mounted outside, on a barn at the end of the driveway aiming back towards the house so I can know any time a car pulls up into my driveway more than 10 feet. The picture is really impressive-- day or night, light or dark. I do not want for any more detail than what this camera gives. Plus, you can HEAR (through the app) so if people are talking, you know what their saying! ha haThis camera is unobtrusive and does the job. Plus, it's pretty easy to install as long as you have a power outlet near where you want to mount it.The app takes a little bit of patience to sort out, but you'll get the hang of all the bells and whistles soon enough.I am still surprised and delighted that a camera this inexpensive works as well as it does.
