A great impact driver for home or semi-professional use
What an impact driver!Pros:Brushless motor (contributes to fantastic battery life)Shorter bodyQuick release button for bitsSpeed setting switchThe ring of 3 led's - after using other impact drivers that have 1 led and created shadows, this is a breath of fresh air.Included belt clipNice to have:An option for a handle, similar to the one on my drill/driver.Cons:Quick release button design does not appear to be heavy duty and could possibly wear out with heavy use. After using this impact driver for a few months, I have come to depend on it. It has been my constant companion when repairing items large or small. In addition to driving/removing large bolts or long screws without stripping, after dialing down the speed, it works just as well for disassembling kids toys without damage. I have used it to remove rusted bolts or lug nuts from a car and then turned around and disassembled a string trimmer motor. With the proper bits, it is good for most anything that most people use a drill/driver for. I would recommend that you purchase longer impact driver bits for this, as the magnetic bit holders are not as good as a plan longer bit when space is limited. In all, I have been very pleased with this DeWalt impact driver and will continue to purchase their products in the future (just not their air compressors).

DeWalt DCF895B Brushless Impact Driver
I've been around building and construction for over 40 years and by far this is the one single tool that just amazes me. It drives screws like cutting butter with a hot knife. I like to use screws when ever possible when doing rough in wood work. years ago I built a 2000 sq. ft. deck and used my battery operated drill for all of the screws in the deck. While that worked OK, when I tried one of these for the first time I was absolutely amazed how quick and, effortlessly the 3 1/2" deck screws when in. I used this tool to build a horse playground with two teter toters, a bridge, an octagon pedestal, rebuilt two large wooden wire reels for a squeeze game, etc. This tool worked flawlessly. I've driven 1/4" X 10 lag bolts with it and again just like cuttin' butter. I had the brushed one previously until one of the horses wanted to help and he mouthed the handle and chewed up the rubber. That one worked quite well also, but as soon as I saw this one come on the market I bought it. The batteries seem to last longer than with the brush version, but I don't think I would have bought it just to have two of these tools. I put the damaged one up for sale on Craigslist and it was gone the first day the ad was up. I may not have said that much about this tool, but if I were to ever start selling all of my tools, this one, the Bosch multitool and the DeWalt sliding Compound miter saw would be the last to go!

Great.
The Amazon picture needs to be updated. The newer version of this tool comes with the XR comfort grip. Not a big deal, but the BL grip looks and feels better in my opinion. As many others have pointed out the inverted chuck and speed selector is what really sets this model apart. Since I've purchased this DeWalt has released the DCF887. The new version also has the speed selector and an additional 300 in/lbs of torture. The 887 has a quick release chuck but I've really grown fond of the inverted one on this version. This does come with a belt clip and bit holder if anybody was concerned about that being that it's a bare tool. Very well balanced, feel's great in the hand. Awesomely fast and powerful.

Little powerhouse
i picked up this impact driver because i wanted a brushless one to go with my brushless hammerdrill and screwgun. it comes to work with me. i work in a cabinet shop and build cabinets and occasinally go out and do some installer work as well. and this little gun here is a compact powerhouse that any type of woodworking or construction professional needs under their belt. ive drove 1in - 5in wood screws, large panheads into concrete, large confirmats without it breaking a sweat. i also have used it to undo rusted 15/16 nuts on lawnmower blades (it took a bit of breaking loose but it got it fairly quick). this is a very versatile multi purposeful tool to have in your arsenal for just about any application no matter how big or small. my father has one and he used it to undo the lug nuts on his truck because he left his tire change kit at the house after forgetting to put it back in the truck. the speed control on the bottom is really nice, functional, has it purposes. i use the small 2Ah batteries in it. at work while screwing cabinets together about 30-50 a day with roughly 25 screws (2in and 1 1/2in #8) the batteries last all day and part of the next. compared to my none brushed version of this gun it lasts around 3/4 of the day under the same circumstances. overall i love this little gun ive had it for about 2 months now and its still going strong. came with a bit holder and belt clip also.

3 strikes dewalt is garbage
Ga4bage save your money this screw gun works great for the first few uses then it completely stops working and all you have is a expensive led light. This is the 3rd one to do the exact same thing. Brushless garbage. Previous Dewalt would last a year. I mean done with Dewalt time to reinvest in batteries and tools from a company that makes quality not garbage

Just want to say it is very powerful. I diduct one start because it damaged multiple screws.Though I would recommend to anyone.

works part time
Iv had this for over 3 years and it works when it wants to, for example ill have 4 drills lined up doing a project and for some reason once in a wile I'll pick it up to use it and its like the battery is dead, very frustrating; the battery is good it works the other tools just fine.

Well Designed, Powerfull Tool
I've had this for a while now. It's paired with a 4.0 Ah 20v MAX Premium Lithium Ion battery. It just goes and goes without slowing down. Unless you're driving fasteners continuously, I doubt if it's possible to run out of power in a single day and then it's probably a long day. Much as the other DeWalt 20 volt MAX tools I have, this impact driver is a convenient, well-balanced and rugged tool It sure beats the dickens out of a 19.2v Craftsman that I also have. I have no basis for comparison to other top of the line brands, but this one will do all I need.

Will not disappoint.
This tool builds 99% of my home DIY projects. It's my #1 go to power tool.I was excited when this arrived in the mail. The very first thing I did was plunk a battery into it and take it through its paces. I took a 3" screw to a stack of 2x4's (well, 3 stacked on top of eachother) to see how far it would go before it crapped out. I probably shouldn't had started to play with it on it's highest RPM setting, because the damn thing drilled all the way through to my workbench without 'impacting'. Oh wow. This is going to be fun.Having a look at it, I'm impressed with the design. 3 LED's illuminate your bit, so there's no shadowing that detracts from your work. This should be the standard on all power tools, frankly. It feels well balanced in my hand and lightweight, but still substantial. Like it could take a beating. I'm not doing the type of projects that require I seriously damage the thing, but if I were to chuck it off the roof onto concrete, I feel like it'd survive. The brushless motor on it has a higher power output than its brushed counterparts and uses less battery to boot. Seriously, I'm only using a 1.5a battery here and I don't think I've driven it down once, even after a full day of screw-heavy projects.Bit storage on the bottom sides is convenient, but a little tight. It can be hard to get bits back into it. The variable speed is a little bit of a gimmick, I almost always keep it to "1" until I need some serious driving power behind a screw. Possibly overkill for a home DIYer like me, but it will never leave you wanting.

Perfect tool for those who use theirs constantly
Absolutely love it. The power behind this thing is so much better than my previous impact (20v not brushless). The 3-speeds work really well, pounding in lags youve got to watch you dont strip out the wood and putting it in 1st or 2nd really helps you make sure it doesnt happen because you can really slow it down till a point you can put a wrench on it. The amount of time i spend charging my battery's (i have the 4amp hour batterys) has gone down exponentially. Ive charged it fully and i havnt had a need to put it on a charger for more than a week now (mind you havnt really used it extremely hard, mainly drilling a few holes for wires, pinning them with screws, probably 50-75 lags and tightened quite a few bolts for rails/rail brackets [elevator installer]). I havnt had a problem at all with over heating even after putting in 50-75 lags in one go. The only problem ive had is having my 3/8, 1/2 socket adapter stick in the chuck but its easily fixed by throwing it in reverse and holding it to let it hammer a few times

This impact cost under $100 so the price was what convinced me to get this impact as my old 18v still works very good and I have
I bought this as a replacement for my 18v xrp Dewalt impact, this Impact lasts way longer as i am using the 5amp hrs batteries so not a fair comparison. This impact cost under $100 so the price was what convinced me to get this impact as my old 18v still works very good and I have had it close to 7yrs. My other Dewalt tools (18v xrp kit)I have had for about 17 yrs all I have ever done is replace batteries. Very happy with quality of Dewalt tools

Very good Congratulations to Dewalt tool
Very good Congratulations to Dewalt tool. I screw a screw average fund 5 / 16in week. DEWF885 model with the same job for the duration of life was approx. 8 months while the DWF895 I approach the three years of life and it still works. It is on that he lost a bit of torque but it is minimal .For the price difference I highly recommend it. PS. and someone has to try the DCF887 model that has more torque and RPM is a new model which is unfortunately not available in Canada. Long live the Brushlless
