Respectful to History
I'd bought my daughter the book “Who Was Anne Frank” from the popular “Who Was” series, but was disappointed about a glaring historical inaccuracy/rewrite. The “Who Was” book states that the British army liberated Auschwitz Concentration Camp, whereas it was actually the Russians. My kids are half-Russian, and they should know of their ancestors’ great, and often overlooked, bravery and sacrifice in WW2.I’m happy to say that this book is historically accurate in that it gives credit where credit is due. It’s also a well-written and properly paced book for young readers.

Difficult subject handled beautifully
I am taking my 8 year old granddaughter to Amsterdam and we will be visiting the Anne Frank House. I wanted to find a book that she could read and get an overview of Anne's life in hiding. The original transcript of Anne's diary is understandably not appropriate reading for an 8 year old. This book provided an overview of Anne's life that will make our visit to her hiding place more meaningful for my granddaughter. The frightening reality of the story is not compromised in this book and yet the information is presented in a way that is appropriate for the younger reader.

great reader about Anne Frank
Great reader about Anne Frank. Child appropriate information without going into too much of the gorey details. I read this with my daughter and she is very excited to visit Anne Franks house. We loved the real photos along with the drawings.

This is a good way to read about Anne Frank without reading the entire diary. Most middle school girls will enjoy and benefit from the entire diary. The only part I don't like about this book are that it does not go in chronological order. I am using it to teach 5th and 6th graders.

Wonderful book
I have fond memories of reading about Anne Frank when I was in middle school so I got this for my 6 year old to give her a bit of understanding at a young age. Things that I had forgotten were covered in this book, it was well written and easy her her to understand and me to explain. Very impressed that they have these books for early readers.

Accessible
I bought this for my 7 1/2 year old son as he had been learning about Anne Frank in Year 3. I thought that perhaps the diary itself would be a little full-on for him, as he's not as strong a reader as he might be. This book is accessible and informative and well illustrated, making it a perfect introduction to feed his fascination and enthusiasm for the topic. He has now progressed to buying the diary, which we will read together.
