3-Chord Christmas Carols for Ukulele

My purpose in buying this book was to teach my family 3-5 basic chords and then do a family Christmas ukulele sing on borrowed ukes. Only half the songs use basic chords, Bb and minor chords beyond Am/Dm are not ideal for beginners. And although the print is very LARGE many songs with multiple verses have the extra lyrics placed at the end of the second page far away from the music and chords. Beginners aren’t fond of this either.But then again… $13 is worth playing these songs in this collection: Ding Dong Merrily On High, Bring A Torch, Deck The Hall, First Noel, I Heard The Bells, Good King Wenceslas, Here We Come A Wassailing, I Saw Three Ships, Infant Holy, Jingle Bells, Jolly Old Saint Nicholas, Joy To the World, O Come All Ye Faithful, O Come All Ye Children, Up On The Housetop, While Shepherds Watched.

It's fun and really is easy. I'm relatively new to Ukulele so I needed a book that could give me easy chords choices for a variety of Xmas songs. One thing to know is that some of the songs are rather older and traditional from some other countries...however they are enjoyable and enables me to expand my Xmas offerings...

This was perfect for a beginner like me. 3 chords per song make for quick and easy playability for leading a carol-sing at your next holiday party.You WILL outgrow it pretty quickly, and when you do Hal Leonard books have similar songbooks for slightly more advanced Uke players.

I'm just learning how to play a ukulele so having a songbook with chords is very helpful and even better, the chord charts/tablatures. The Kindle book is great because I can also access it on my Samsung tablet.

Fun resource for someone just learning ukulele who wants to learn popular Christmas songs. Good variety of traditional tunes that are relatively simply to play.

This review is for the Kindle format version of this book. DO NOT PURCHASE THIS BOOK IN KINDLE FORMAT. Hopefully I will save you some irritation and disappointment. I saw this book and as a beginner ukulele player, I thought it would be an easy way for me to learn some Christmas music. I tried the sample and it only gave the first few pages, through the table of contents. No music. This should have been my first clue. I looked at the "take a look inside" option on the paperback selection and it showed the first few measures of the first song and it looked like it would be great. So, I ordered the kindle format. I thought I could prop up my iPad and play.When I opened it on my iPad (not a mini, a full size one), I was very disappointed. The format was awful. The pages were smaller than the viewing screen. A bit bigger than a paperback book page and the music was broken up over several pages for each song. The title was on one page all by itself with no music, and then you turned the page to see the music. But, it was not even a whole page of the music. Maybe four lines of the music and then you had to flip the page. Not a good lay out at all. Just about the time you got into the rhythm of the song, its time to turn the page. Even short songs, like The First Noel, were broken up over two pages.Thankfully, I was able to return the kindle version for a refund. I will spend a few more dollars and get the paperback. Save yourself the trouble and do the same.Good Luck!

Book is easy to use as well as fun to play.

This USA way to practice changing chords as a beginner. But was hard to sing because with only 3 chords many songs sounded off key. Many songs were unfamiliar.21 Easy Ukulele Songs for Christmas was a better fit for me.

Nice selection of easy Christmas carols. Only three chords to remember, so you can concentrate on practicing other things like strumming patterns.

I thought this would use the same three chords throughout to make it simple for beginners like me to really get into them but sadly no. A bit disappointed but I dare say I will enjoy the book more when I have more chords under my belt.
