turkey fryer review
We bought this fyrer for brewing beer. It works very well in boiling 6 gallons of water. It is a little tricky starting the flame. Once it goes it heats up fairly quickly. The downside to the fryer and also the upside if one were to fry oil is the 20 min timer. It is nice to have just in case one forgets to turn it off but, it is also a pain when boiling water due to the timer shutting off the flame. It is easy to regulate the flame in several spots. On the tank valve and on the reguator. Clean up is easy but metal cleaner is a must. The flame burns rich and soot build up on the pot happens. Most of the build up rinses off but the aluminum pan has mini grooves that capture the soot. That is the most frustrating part. Overall we like this and have used it several times for brewing. I hope this helps.

Excellent fryer...despite the annoying timer.
This fryer works very well. The drain valve on the bucket is very handy. And the company stands behind their product. I received a dented bucket with my order (due to factory mishap, not shipping). They sent me a new bucket, no questions asked. The timer is annoying. However, if you have even a slight amount of electrical know how, you will be able to figure out how to bypass that safety feature. But don't be an idiot and leave your fryer burning overnight.

This is a good fryer...
When this fryer first arrived I was worried... the basket looked small. However, it did handle a 12 pound turkey without any problems. I've been frying turkeys for about 15 years and personally, I wouldn't fry one over 12-14 pounds anyway. If you need 20 pounds... cook two at 10-12 each. Once you're set up it only takes 40-45 minutes for a 12 pound turkey (I figure 3.5 minutes per pound at 350 and round up to nearest 5). The basket hook was also a little on the small side. With all the "safety" improvements they try to add to a fryer of this size... and you get a hook that is barely big enough?? You do want to be careful... It is an open flame with 3 gallons of boiling oil above it!!!! Wear Thick Leather Gloves!!However, I can live with those things and still feel like it was a good value for the price. The only reason it didn't get five stars... The stupid timer!!!! I'd like to find the genius who came up with a 12 minute timer and call him/her an idiot. I agree with the timer and think it's a good safety feature, but I'll be bypassing or trying to extend it to 25-30 minutes.Be smart people... don't fill over the max oil line and remember boiling hot oil with open flame beneath!!!!If you don't buy this particular brand/model... Always look for one with a drain!!!!

Cooks well but the timer makes it difficult!
The size is relatively good all though a little smaller than expected. The drain spout is a good idea and works O.K. but is should have been lower on the pot to be able to get as much oil out as possible. The big dissapointment is the 12 minute timer! Who ever thought this up had to be on crack. The oil will never get hot in 12 minutes, so you have to keep reaching down beside the hot pot and the flame to keep turning the timer on so the flame does not go out. If this was intended to be a saftey feature you created a saftey hazzard. The unit does cook well once you figure out how to keep the flame from going out. A redesign / elimination and retrofit of the timer would be a good idea.

Worthless Garbage
I would rate it lower if I could. The stock pot is made of super thin metal and came out of the box looking like it had been used as a punching bag. The spout was smashed into the pot and looks like it's out to rip out. Burner seems ok but I didn't try it. Don't waste your time or money on this garbage.

It was easy to setup
Cooked my 2016 turkey with this, it worked exactly as promised. It was easy to setup. It was however missing a very small nut to secure the flame sensor in place. I did fine one at lowes that worked fine for it. Timer only lasts 12 minutes but you want to keep an eye on your turkey anyway so didn't bother me. I also made a blooming onion in it a few days later with some fried pickles. Nice fun large fryer that doesn't stink up the house!

Buy one without a 12 minute timeer
The built-in 12 minute timer is just plain annoying. Heating the oil to 350 degrees can take 30-45 minutes. This means you have to keep remembering to set the timer to the max to keep the heat flowing. If you're doing multiple batches, you have to keep kicking up the timer. If you forget, which is inevitable, you have to re-light and your food stops cooking. Look carefully--because the timer is a pain! I wish I had purchased a fryer with no timer allowing me to keep my fryer turned on for as long as possible. If there is a way to disable or remove it, I don't know how. And, it makes me nervous for fear that I'll damage the hose that keeps the propane flowing. The rest of the setup is fine, I suppose, but the fryer has this one annoying hangup.

Southern Fried
We love fried turkey and this worked perfect! We also have used for fried corn, Yummy. we used for 10 pounds of wings too , they turned out perfect. My husband di block the timer with a brick so it wouldn't turn off as was suggested by another reviewer. No problems.
